I have lived in this building at two different points in my life. Once was in 2007 for about a year and a half and then I moved back in December of 2017. The reason I decided to move back was due to the amount of space in each unit as well as the layout and the cost for the size. These units are liked stacked townhouses where the kitchen, living room and dining room are on the lower level opening out to either a balcony or a backyard (depending on their location) and three bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs.
While I was very happy when I lived here in 2007, I was impressed to see that some improvements had taken place upon my return. Some of these improvements were that the hallway leading to my apartment had been painted and recarpeted, the kitchen was completely renovated, there were new windows installed in the unit, the backyard had been re-graded and new grass laid, the dividing fences had been replaced, new patio stones had been put in place and leveled and security cameras were installed in the hallways and parking lot.
When I initially moved in I lived in the unit next to the superintendents and I had a good relationship with them while living here. Upon my return I found that there was a new superintendent. I met her when I first came to view the unit and found that she was both professional and friendly. After viewing the unit, she and I stood and chatted for quite awhile and I knew I would be happy moving back here. Since I moved in, my opinion of her has changed, but only for the better. There are few mornings that I do not hear her out vacuuming the hallway or see her mopping the entryway or performing some other type of maintenance task. Whenever I have had something that needs replacing/fixing she has been prompt in seeing to the issue. She communicates well in letting me know when the work will commence and makes sure that things are done well. She is also good about getting notices out to the tenants from the landlord regarding work being done in common areas or checking fire alarms etc. One particular situation stands out in my mind, which showed me just how great she really is. Last year my father was in the hospital, in Newmarket, from December 31st, 2018 until he passed away on July 26th, 2019. I stayed with my mother at her home, in Aurora, for that time and only came home to get things I needed. I am sure that most people would feel uncomfortable leaving their home unattended for that length of time, but I did not. I knew that the superintendent knew what was going on and she was great about making me feel like my unit was being observed in my absence. This is something that goes above and beyond what most people expect or receive from their superintendents and I am thankful to find this where I live.
While I do not work in Barrie and have to commute to York Region each day, I am happy to make the drive because I have been very happy with the experience of living here. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking and I think the fact that I moved back proves that!
