Before I begin, I want to give the BIGGEST shoutout to Neija, Stephanie, and Al. I have officially been living here for 10 years, and I’ve watched this apartment complex grow while seeing many management teams come and go.
The last management team completely destroyed this place. We went from a 4.5 rating down to a 3.1 under the old management. So many people didn’t have AC during the summer, and the last team did nothing about it — but they still collected rent on time and threatened eviction. Homes had water leaks, mold, broken windows, washers, and stoves. It got so bad that the community called the local news, and we ended up on Frontline News. Some apartments were reading over 90 degrees INSIDE, and still nothing was done. If you put in a work ticket, it took 3 months for someone to show up, and if you tried to leave, they charged thousands of dollars for breaking the lease. Many people moved out after their lease ended, and the apartments sat empty for a long time.
THEN THE NEW COMPANY CAME IN!!!!! OMG.
They are AMAZING. They had to deal with a HUGE mess left behind by the previous management, and they owned it. They apologized and kindly asked for some time — and they’ve been proving themselves ever since.
Al is such a gentle giant. He knows exactly where I live — THEY ALL DO — and that makes me feel like family, not just a rent payer. I recently went into the office and mentioned something I needed fixed, and Al said, “I know where you live, and you have that little dog.” 😊 It’s the little things like that that make people want to stay.
Neija has honestly become a good friend. I’ll go into the office to pay rent, and we end up just talking about life. And Steph is newer, but she is very welcoming, always well-dressed (yes, I noticed!), and on the ball. She did something HUGE for me — something I’ve been asking for years — and when Neija and I brought it up, Steph simply said, “Sure.” No begging. No back and forth. It was that easy.
As a traveling nurse, I can honestly see myself staying here for several more years. With this new team, I truly believe the rating will go back to 4.5. There is hope for this complex again, and Oxford Oaks WILL be great again.
YAY!! 🎉💙
