DO NOT MOVE HERE!! I moved in last September the first couple of months were fine despite moving in and there being several broken items maintenance said they were supposed to come by to fix but never did. This winter we have had our pipes freeze on multiple occasions despite dripping and keeping our apartment at 65+ degrees. We called maintenance to come fix it and the guy that showed up said he couldn’t unfreeze it because they had no more heaters and told me to use my hairdryer. You can’t actually call and talk to a leasing agent when you call it sends you to an AI chat bot that can’t help you. Our electric bill has been 500+ and our most recent for the month of January was 800. We have all of our windows wrapped and covered we covered the fireplace and it has done nothing to stop the aggressive air leakage in this apartment. I WILL NOT be renewing my lease.

I was lied to. When I signed my contract I thought I was paying 1400 for a 2bdrm. They didn’t include amenity fees and now my rent is 1720. They do not maintain the property. During snow they don’t salt or shovel any of their property. (Note) if they do this again it a breach of contract for not maintaining property. This place over charges. I’m not someone to fall behind rent but only allowing 3 day grace period? Grace periods were designed because people get paid on different dates. Guess what happens if you’re 3 days late? $150 buck

They are refusing to plow their parking lots. They are stating that it is the residents’ responsibility. This is dangerous and dehumanizing and may very well result in someone’s death. As a PSA to anyone shoveling snow right now: take breaks. If your body is not conditioned for this level of activity, especially in this cold, you could very well give yourself a heart attack. That’s not an exaggeration. They have no respect for their elderly and disabled residents. If I have to park at the CVS down the street and walk through the snow to deliver my grandparents something they need, I will. But let us acknowledge that there’s another option, if the powers that be weren’t too cheap to consider it.

I’ve known of the Commons my whole life between family living here 20+ years ago, multiple friends living here over my adulthood- this place is a staple in Columbus. I’m incredibly put off by the unprofessionalism I’ve experienced with the staff though. They give “we’re here to hang out with each other” vibes more than they do “I’m here for a job to take care of people’s living situations”. It seems like they’re too worried about each other than they are their own residents. I used to rave about this complex to anyone whenever it was brought up- but now I’ll be sure to tell them to save their money & go somewhere more focused on the resident.
