The Legal Pad

As a prospective tenant, I was genuinely shocked by the content and tone of the Rental Boss Facebook page. The posts come across as unprofessional, dismissive, and at times openly hostile toward current tenants. Publicly ridiculing or belittling tenants on social media is not only inappropriate, but it reflects poorly on how management likely handles real concerns behind closed doors.
For anyone considering renting, this page is a major red flag. Housing is a serious commitment, and tenants deserve respect, transparency, and professionalism—not sarcasm or public shaming. The way current tenants are portrayed makes it difficult to trust that future tenants would be treated any differently.
Ultimately, after seeing this behavior, I decided to rent a property in Johnstown instead of Amsterdam. Management attitude matters, and this page made my decision very easy.

I am writing to formally express deep dissatisfaction with the conduct and performance of Gateway Property Management. The level of unprofessionalism displayed by this company has been consistent, unacceptable, and damaging to tenant trust.
Tenants are routinely treated with rudeness and disrespect, often by staff who appear poorly trained and unprepared to handle even basic property management responsibilities. Simple requests are met with hostility, defensiveness, or dismissive responses rather than solutions. This reflects a management culture that does not prioritize service, accountability, or basic professionalism.
Even more troubling is the apparent lack of care or oversight from management itself. Legitimate concerns raised by tenants are not addressed in good faith. Instead, criticism is often met with rude comments, blame-shifting, and attempts to portray tenants as the problem rather than acknowledging operational failures. This approach only escalates issues and erodes confidence further.
There are also serious concerns regarding financial transparency. While no tenant should have to question where their money is going, the lack of clarity, inconsistent explanations, and questionable handling of funds understandably raise red flags. At minimum, these issues warrant immediate review and stronger internal controls.
Additionally, the company’s presence on social media—particularly the Rental Boss Facebook page—is beyond unprofessional. The tone is immature, dismissive, and at times mocking, which is entirely inappropriate for a business entrusted with managing people’s homes and finances. Publicly responding to criticism in this manner reflects poorly on the entire organization.
The owners of Gateway Property Management need to wake up. Either staff must be properly trained and held to professional standards, or they need to be replaced. Tenants deserve respectful communication, competent management, and transparent operations—none of which are currently being delivered.
This letter is written in the hope that meaningful changes will be made. However, without immediate improvement, it is difficult to see how Gateway can continue to justify its role as a responsible property management company.
I can’t wait to see the response from the management team. This is some hard truths for them to swallow.
