I regret renting an apartment at Veridian at South Meadows by Sequoia Apartments.
I work from home, and I was looking for somewhere peaceful and safe to live. It was not Veridian at South Meadows. There are homeless people walking around, and even though there is a car gate, there is no gate for walk-ins. There were times when the whole community was flooded by police cars. I did not feel safe.
I got an apartment on the 3rd floor, but heating and cooling costs were around $300–$400 per month. No good insulation. It’s by the lake, so there are lots of mosquitos, and you can't open the windows because windows are too old, and insect screens are useless. The maintenance is a nightmare. I had to live full 1 year without toilet paper holder. I didn't bother asking to replace the broken (now yellow from the sun) shades.
Trash flies around, and they are not good at cleaning it up. The walkways by the lake are full of animal poop.
They advertise their amenities, but I wasn’t able to use the pool even once. Their golf simulator is broken all the time.
On move-out day, it was about 100 degrees outside, and the leasing office first warned me, then threatened to tow my car claiming my move is taking longer. I was parked by my apartment and was not blocking anybody. They claimed I was creating inconvenience for other residents while I was really not.
After moving out, they sent me charges for carpet repair even though I barely lived in the apartment and didn’t cause any damage along with cleaning fees, despite the fact that I left the place in the same condition as when I moved in. They also added a “notice liability” charge, even though I gave both verbal and email notice. They complained that I didn’t fill out a paper form and drop it off at the office. On top of that, they never even completed a move-in or move-out inspection even though I asked in person. Thankfully, I have videos from both my first and last day in the apartment.
I believe I was discriminated at Veridian at South Meadows by Sequoia Equities/Sequoia Apartments Management, and planning to go to Nevada Equal Rights Commission to get those fees dropped, and get the incident recorded against Sequoia Equities, Inc. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Sequoia Apartments or Veridian at South Meadows to anyone.
