I have lived at Tides on Charleston for over 8 years, and in that time I have seen countless employees and even different property management companies come and go. Unfortunately, my recent interaction with Diana was one of the most unprofessional and disrespectful experiences I have ever had in the leasing office.
I went into the office to address an issue regarding an incorrect late fee that had been placed on my account. While I was in the middle of explaining the situation, Diana abruptly interrupted me and stated that she was “off the clock.” Instead of assisting me or directing me to someone who could help, she simply walked right past me and out of the office while I was still speaking. It was incredibly dismissive, rude, and completely unprofessional. Residents should not be treated as an inconvenience when they are trying to address legitimate concerns about their account.
What made the situation even more disappointing is that Veronica was also present in the office and witnessed the entire interaction. She did not step in, offer assistance, or even apologize for how the situation was handled.
From what I understand, Diana is currently acting as the property manager. If that is the case, this level of unprofessionalism is extremely concerning. Someone in a leadership role should know how to handle resident concerns with professionalism and basic courtesy.
Ironically, the issue that Diana told me could not be fixed and that there was nothing that could be done about it was resolved almost immediately by Sandy, who has recently transitioned from Assistant Manager to Community Manager. Sandy handled the situation promptly and professionally and removed the late fee without issue, which further confirms that the problem could have been addressed properly from the start.
After living here for nearly a decade, I have watched staff members come and go. Unfortunately, with the attitude and level of customer service Diana displayed toward tenants, it would not be surprising if she becomes another short-term addition to that list.
Corporate leadership should seriously take a look at the customer service being provided at this location, because dismissing residents and walking out on them mid-conversation is completely unacceptable behavior in any professional leasing office.
