f you're considering a Toll Brothers home, let this review be a warning: do not buy. This company is solely focused on profit, treating customers as mere numbers. Their homes are hastily constructed, lacking in quality and craftsmanship, and their customer service is abysmal.
I bought my first million-dollar home from Toll Brothers less than two years ago, but I’ve faced problems ever since. The buying experience was impersonal; I was handed a door code and keys left on the counter—no congratulations, no recognition of this milestone.
The issues began immediately. Despite assurances that soil reports were conducted, my home was built on marshland, and water still rises from the soil. The framing is warped, creating a visible bulge in the wall. Corners were cut throughout: hot and cold water lines were reversed, the second story creaks, tiles are cracked, and the attic makes random popping noises. Paint is uneven, baseboards have gaps, the flooring has hollow spots, and the materials used are cheap. Our appliances have repeatedly broken, and Toll Brothers refuses to cover them, directing us to the manufacturers instead.
Even basic features are subpar. The garage door is loud, the backyard sliding door requires excessive effort to open, and the driveway pavers sank within three months. I detected a leak in the drip system only after my water bill spiked, but Toll denied it until I dug up the front yard to expose the problem. The HVAC system is a disaster: half the rooms are either too hot or too cold, and the lack of insulation and shearing causes temperature fluctuations and constant creaking.
The electrical work was overlooked, with frequent breaker trips and disconnected circuits rendering outlets unusable. The roof tiles were cracked, allowing birds to nest in our home. Even the patio shade is uneven. These issues were approved by the city without scrutiny, leaving us with a flawed, non-compliant home.
My neighbors have faced similar problems. Water seeped through their backyards, their kitchen sink fell through the counter, and Toll Brothers refused to fix it on a six-month-old home. They've also had water leaks that Toll Brothers wouldn't address. These are not isolated incidents; countless homeowners have the same complaints.
Toll Brothers calls themselves "America’s Best Home Builder," but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Despite my repeated attempts to resolve these issues, I was met with indifference. The entire staff at Toll Brothers, including Gary Mayo (Group President), Jeff Spencer (Customer Care Representative), Shanda Crain (Area Production Manager), Donna O’ Connell (President), Spencer Starrh (Sr. Customer Care Representative), Christian Decker (Customer Care Representative), John Overton (Customer Care Representative), Michael McGuire (Customer Care Representative), and Cody Anderson (Customer Care Representative), were unhelpful. I even reached out to the contractor board, who confirmed Toll’s construction errors, but they, too, were unresponsive. The board, led by Gary Leonard, made the process a nightmare.
After spending over a million dollars, I’m left with a poorly constructed home by a company that doesn’t care about its customers. If I have one regret, it’s buying a home from Toll Brothers. Stay FAR FAR away from them.
