I had been looking forward to the day I could sit down and write a glowing 5-star review for Pearl Pointe. Sadly, that day has come, and instead, I’m left giving them only 3 stars—at best. I lived at Pearl Pointe for a year. At move-in, I’ll admit I thought the rent was steep, but the building was spotless, the staff kind, and the location worked perfectly for me. It felt worth it. For the most part, my experience was positive: the community was quiet, I had good neighbors, and maintenance was always professional and prompt. I paid rent in advance every month, never late, even rented extra storage, and paid pet fees for my dog. By all accounts, I was a model tenant. But over time, things shifted. After the senior manager left, I noticed a decline—the building didn’t feel as well cared for, and the overall standards seemed to slip. Still, I believed it was a nice place to live and I never caused any issues. When I gave notice of my move, I was told repeatedly how much I would be missed, how I was the “ideal tenant.” I closed on my new home July 30th, but my lease ran until September 16th. Rent for August was already paid, giving me plenty of time to pack, move, and clean thoroughly. I did a full deep clean on September 13th, turned in my keys on the 15th, and expected everything would be fine. Instead, on September 17th, I received a close-out statement with an extra $250 charge for “cleaning fees.” When I questioned it—because I left the place spotless and have video proof—they sent me photos of a tiny carpet spot, a dust mark on a toilet, and a corner of the shower door. That was their justification. To say I was upset is an understatement. It wasn’t about the money—it was about the principle. After all the praise, after being told what a great tenant I was, why wasn’t I simply given a courtesy call to say, “Hey, you missed a couple of small things, you can come fix them if you want to avoid charges”? These were issues that would have taken me 30 minutes to address. Instead, they went straight to nickel-and-diming me. And let’s be real—management admits they bring in professional cleaners anyway, and I’ve heard they plan to replace all the carpets with new flooring. So why was I penalized? It was my mistake to assume fairness and courtesy would prevail. They did not. I considered fighting the charges with my video evidence, but in the end, I decided it wasn’t worth the energy. Instead, I’m sharing this review so others don’t make the same mistake I did. My final rating: 2.5–3 stars, not 5. Not because the building is terrible, but because of how they treat people in the end. No matter how nice and welcoming they may seem, remember: this is a business first. And business often comes before people and decency. My advice to future tenants: always be present for walk-throughs, no matter what they say. Don’t assume your good standing or kindness will protect you from being nickel-and-dimed on the way out.
