I lived here for about a year (now years ago) and the fire alarm panel across the hall was constantly going off - literally beeping every other second with no break - for no reason and they often took days to fix it. I couldn't escape the beeping anywhere in my apartment. It felt like torture. Additionally my washer broke a few times, and they also took days to come fix it. The smell of the standing water would get so disgusting and foul that it made me feel sick and I had to leave and stay at a family member's place until it was fixed. It took people I knew calling in to the office and standing up for me for things to be done in a timely manner. I would call management myself quite often and tell them I couldn't live like that.
The apartments are poorly made and I could hear everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) from the apartment above me and next to me. Doors in the apartment didn't close, wind pushed air through the window jamb, the front door to the building would slam shut - very loud and jarring - because the "arm" at the top was broken and never fixed, the carpet was peeling up in certain spots and in one spot I could see bricks below, nothing in between. At the end of my lease they raised rent for the apartment $300 more than what I was paying if I wanted to renew, but when I checked the website after I did not renew and had moved, they had my exact unit listed for what I had been paying, not the new price, which makes raising the rent seem retaliatory/like it was intended to push me out (and that is illegal if I'm not mistaken).
I was very stressed out the entire time I was living here and the sleep I got was awful because the of the noise. I had migraines constantly due to those factors.
Also, my sister lived here for a time several years prior and she experienced a lot of problems too (that I was not aware of before I signed my lease), including that she was alone in the apartment, showering, and maintenance entered and stayed in the apartment even though the sound of a shower running through a wall or a door is hard to miss once you're inside. She was not aware that they were planning to stop by. She was around 19-20.

Worst corporation and management. They are choosing not to renew my lease because I speak up and they don't like me. They are not giving me any reason why they are not renewing my lease so guessing that's the reason as they have no other reason not to.
I have done my part in being a tenant. I pay my rent on time, I follow the rules. I am clean, quiet, and I bring stuff up to the property staff's attention as most landlords would appreciate to keep their property maintained, but they DO NOT CARE HERE AT ALL. Most landlords would like to have a tenant like me. Before I moved in here, I rented a house for 15 years.
I think having rodents in the apartment (again) due to the lack of care and/or laziness from maintenance and management is a legitimate issue to be upset about. If anyone in management, corporate, and maintenance dealt with what I have here in their place of residence, they would feel the same way. I never once got a discount on my rent or even a real genuine apology, just lies and attitude.
Now they want to retaliate against me even though they are the ones not doing their job as landlords by providing a habitable living situation and complying with all local health and safety codes. Codes have not been followed here. So now I, as a single-income household, must somehow come up with money during the holidays (and winter) and find a place to live while still stuck paying rent here. They are kicking me out because they don't want to do their jobs, keep up with the property, or do things by code. How fair is that?
Do I want to move? Mostly yes due to the management and the problems I've faced here, but oddly it did become to feel like home. Also, moving is flipping expensive. Apartments are so outrageous and renting a house these days is twice a mortgage. Then just all the moving cost is ridiculous. It's a lot and stressful.
Now I am terrified of what they will try to come up and charge me with after I move out after reading these reviews and their check out list. I wish I had a list that I could deduct from my rent of everything that has happened here and the time I've had to take off work. If they do, I will somehow need to investigate legal counsel because that would not be okay after everything I've dealt with and how I have taken care of this apartment and they have not done their part.
I will be doing a final walk through and take pictures like I did at move in. Might even take videos. I already have quite a lot of pictures and emails of everything. Especially when staff lied to me and said faceplates are not required on stove plug-ins and that went for all their properties. That was one of the ways rodents got in. They also got in due to huge holes behind the fridge and dishwasher. The picture behind the fridge was taken after they sealed it. The appliances were put in after I moved here so these holes were ignored by the negligence of current maintenance staff. The fact their exterminator didn't suggest moving the appliances (I did) and only laid down traps is/was concerning to me.
Rodents weren't the only issue I have had here either, just the one that has rightfully upset me the most and their lack of care, which this is a prime example. Just kick her out so she can't complain or bring inspectors in. Which if you call Lincoln building inspectors, they will do an inspection. I didn't, and now what's the point.
New things are grub worms, gutters not cleaned, bathroom sink put back with rust stains not clean before sealing, nails on ground, screen bent and more foam and traps.
Moving here is by far the worst decision I have ever made! If I had read the reviews before I moved in, I wouldn't be in this horrible situation. I just want a peaceful place to live where they care about their tenants and the property. Corporation, it should be your guy's job to hold management and maintenance accountable and do what you can to make things right and keep good tenants who pay on time and take care of their apartment instead of kicking them out. That's very eye-opening on how this corporation operates.
