Until this week, I actually would have recommended living here. Now I cannot wait to get out.
If you have a pet, do not live here.
Management sent a vague notice over the weekend about “sprinkler testing” on Monday and completely failed to disclose that it would involve fire alarms going off for hours. There was no real notice of what was actually coming. Those alarms were blaring for roughly five hours straight, and they are not just “loud” — they are absolutely terrifying for animals.
This was traumatizing for pets.
People missed work. Others were late or missed classes entirely because we refused to leave our pets alone during something like that. I personally lost hours of work trying to protect my dog from the noise.
And I feel awful for the pets whose owners had already left for the day, completely unaware of the stress and panic their animals were being put through.
Then for the next day, management sent another email saying the alarms would go off at a specific time for 20 minutes. Based on that, I had no choice but to adjust my schedule again and cut a medical appointment short to get back in time.
Except the alarms didn’t go off when they said they would.
So now I’m left scrambling, trying to decide whether to stay home indefinitely waiting for it to happen or leave for a rescheduled appointment and risk my dog being alone and traumatized if they suddenly decide to set them off. At that point, I either miss yet another appointment or pay a fee, all because their communication is unreliable.
Residents are expected to jump through hoops to accommodate poor planning and inaccurate information.
This is supposed to be a “luxury” apartment, yet there is zero consideration for residents or their pets.
Pet-friendly in name only.
My partner and I (and our cat) lived in the Acorn since 2024 and moved out last year because we wanted to live closer to my work. We loved living there - brand new apartment, great amenities, reasonable price, walkable neighborhood and friendly staff. They also had wonderful community events that let us know our neighbors. We love the Little Native coffee shop, Vic’s and other shops in the downtown area. Would recommend this great apartment to people searching for home in downtown!
Acorn on Pleasant Street is a cute boutique-style community and the apartments themselves are beautiful. One of the corner units I toured with wrap-around windows was actually one of my favorite layouts during my apartment search.
Unfortunately, the touring experience wasn’t great. Parking was frustrating, which caused me to arrive a few minutes late. When I walked in, staff members downstairs didn’t greet me, and the interaction in the leasing office felt rushed and not very welcoming. The first question I was asked was “do you still want to tour or not” no welcome in, etc… I also found it odd that my license was never requested before the tour, which every other community I visited required.
I had seen several of Acorn’s videos on TikTok that made the community seem very warm and personable, so the in-person experience felt different from what I expected. I likely would have rented here because I loved the apartment itself, but I ultimately chose to lease elsewhere.

I recently toured Acorn on Person Street apartments and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. Before even stepping on the property, I called with a few questions and Hailey was incredibly helpful. She took the time to explain the current specials and amenities in great detail, which made me feel informed and excited about coming in for a tour.
When I arrived, the property immediately stood out compared to another complex I had toured nearby. The hallways at Acorn were clean, bright, and well presented, creating a welcoming atmosphere. At the other location, the halls felt gloomy and not nearly as inviting, so the difference was noticeable right away.
One thing I really appreciated about the tour was being able to see the actual unit I was interested in first, and then the model afterward. It helped me visualize the layout while still understanding the finished look and possibilities for the space.
The team was also very transparent about pricing. I felt confident in the rate I was quoted for my unit, and they clearly explained all additional fees based on my personal situation without me having to chase down the information.
To top it all off, I received a same-day follow-up email from the Assistant Property Manager, Sara, confirming our conversation and making sure all of my questions were addressed. That level of professionalism and communication really made the experience stand out.
Overall, the staff, cleanliness of the property, and transparency throughout the process made a great impression on me. I would absolutely recommend touring Acorn Apartments if you're looking for a place that feels welcoming and well managed.

I visited recently and Sara gave a great tour - accommodating my being early and following up quickly.
