  moved in November and we absolutely love it. everyone is so accommodating and polite/friendly and maintenance is so fast!

  Lived at Venable during my 1 year in Durham and it was overall a great experience. Highlights for me are the best amenities in the area (hard to beat the rooftop pool) and cleanliness of the building. The fitness room is also quite nice as far as apartment gyms go. The staff is great especially Mandy who was super nice and helpful, as well as the maintenance team. Parking garage felt secure in the resident only section. Only negative I can offer is the train noise, which I was worried about before moving in but really wasn't that bad. Overall really liked it at Venable and would have stayed if not for moving states for work.

  Venable is an amazing place to live! The staff are all so accommodating, and the building has all the amenities you could want and more! There have been no problems at all here, and I'm really thankful my roommate and I found this place.

  I have been living at Venable for about 3 months now. I toured/contacted nearly every apartment building downtown, 9th st, and near the hospital (34 in total), and Venable won me over by their amenities, location, and amazing staff. There are few (if any) apartment buildings in Durham that can go toe to toe with Venable. The gym is large and has every piece of equipment you need. The rooftop pool is amazing. There is no concierge trash so the hallways are always clean and smell fresh. My floor plan (studio) is excellent, has a large bathroom, and well thought out storage areas. Parking is easy and there are always spots, with free parking on the street. Instant access to the highway to get to Duke. The apartment events are fun and well done, and as I result I have made friends with many other residents. The entire staff at Venable are on another level. Mandy, Samantha, the maintenance staff, and the cleaning staff are perfect and go above and beyond, even before you're a resident. Mandy, for example, sent me a private video for an apartment I was not able to tour in person (due to me changing the floorplan I wanted), and it just so happened that was the apartment I signed for. The maintenance staff has fixed all of my requests the next business day without any fuss. The cleaning staff keeps everything in excellent shape, to the point where friends and family who visit all remark at how clean the pool, lounges, elevators, hallways, etc. are. I recently needed some repairs at my apartment and the Venable team was able to set up electricians, painters, and the cleaning crew to come on sequential days while I am at work to get everything repaired which was incredible. I am very impressed overall. I honestly didn't think that an apartment building could be so perfect. Highly recommended!

  I rented an apartment here for a year, and my experience was amazing! I absolutely loved the staff, especially Kirsty. She was so helpful, so quick in her responses, and planned amazing events. I swear she knows every resident by name and really makes such a genuine effort to know everyone in the building. The apartment itself is beautiful. The amenities are so nice and the apartment itself is really nice, too. Great new appliances, the apartment got amazing lighting, and it was just a great experience overall. I really liked the layout and the neighbors were also great! Maintenance was also super quick and I honestly never really needed any maintenance to begin with. And the security was great! I think the one thing that really holds this place back for me is how noisy it is. The walls are paper thin so I could hear my roommate across the apartment (we didn't even share a wall) every time she was on the phone or had someone over. The apartment is right across the street from a nightclub called The Fruit and they blast music every Friday and Saturday night until 2 am. And sometimes they'd even have weekday or Sunday events. The bass was sometimes so loud that the walls felt like they were vibrating. So it was so annoying every time I wanted to catch up on sleep on the weekends. There were 3 separate occasions when the fire alarms went off for no reason and we were never really notified of what happened, so I grew to distrust the fire alarms. Also for about 4 months, they were having a problem with the security alarms and they'd just be beeping 24/7 on the 2nd floor and near the clubhouse. It took them so long to fix them. There is a biker gang that hangs out outside the apartment some nights around midnight - 2 am and they'd blast music so it also made it difficult to sleep. There's also the train of course, but I honestly got so used to it that it never woke me up after the first week. When you sign your lease, you also sign a form saying that you understand that living in downtown means dealing with some noise, so it made me feel like as a resident that I wasn't allowed to make a complaint about the high noise levels, which was somewhat frustrating. So while this apartment has a great location in terms of downtown Durham, I definitely would not recommend living here if high noise levels is something that would really bother you. Otherwise, it's a really great community full of wonderful people and great amenities!
