  Me and my family stopped at the oakwood homes because we just saw it off the side of the road and stopped in without an appointment and the salesman Charles Evans was AMAZING and showed us 3 homes and gave us very detailed information that answered our questions about manufactured homes. We will be back to do business with Oakwood homes and Mr. Evans.

  I want to first acknowledge Todd Mercer. He was professional, responsive, and genuinely helpful, even assisted us in finding our land. His guidance during the early stages of this process was appreciated. However, after closing and submitting a $32,451 down payment, the experience shifted significantly. Construction-related communication began at that time, including discussions about site preparation and well coordination. Yet when concerns were later raised about delays and repeated missed onsite commitments, we were told by the customer advocate team that “construction does not officially begin until the home is delivered.” In our case, delivery occurred approximately a month and a half after closing. It is difficult to reconcile that explanation when funds had already been paid and construction planning and coordination were clearly underway. Redefining when “construction starts” after payment and active site discussions creates confusion and undermines trust. Additionally, we were told on multiple occasions that someone would be onsite regarding the well, and those visits did not occur without proactive communication. While delays can happen in construction, repeated missed commitments and lack of follow-up are not minor issues — they reflect larger concerns about oversight and accountability. Escalation to the customer advocate team did not provide clarity or a structured resolution plan. The response felt casual given the level of financial investment and the significance of this project for our family. Building a home is one of the largest investments a person makes. Clear timelines, transparent definitions of project phases, and consistent communication should be standard practice. While we remain grateful for Todd’s professionalism, the overall management and communication surrounding this build have fallen well below expectations.

  We loved working with Todd Mercer at Oakwood in Burlington! If you miss good old fashion customer service done with kindness and respect Todd is your person! He was so easy to work with and a breath of fresh air! You should check out their homes on their lot! I was stunned by the look of their homes… beautiful and the pricing was even better! Again if your shopping for a new home check out Oakwood of Burlington and ask for Todd he will not disappoint!
