While renting an apartment is always a risk no matter where you go, renting from Muirwood is a great way to guarantee stress and inconvenience throughout your entire time living there.
After living there two years, I need both hands to count the amount of times I had to have maintenance come and fix something. Here are some of the highlights of the time there:
- Power went out to half of the apartment for over a week. When maintenance came out to look at it, they blamed DTE for it. When DTE came out and installed a brand new meter base, the power still didn't work. Maintenance still insisted it was a DTE issue, until I pushed and pushed and they sent out an actual licensed electrician to fix the issue. This was after a week of the issue.
- They do not check the appliances before a new resident moves in, the air conditioning and heat went out multiple times within the first year of living in the unit. The AC went out in the summer and the heat went out in the winter, both for multiple days due to the slow response time of maintenance as there is only one staff that can actually fix anything.
- Here's the the biggest highlight: Our dryer all of a sudden stopped working on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Understandably because of the holidays, maintenance did not come out until December 29, 2025. They informed us that they had to order a part from General Electric to fix it, I asked them how long is the usual order time for said part, he said "no idea", and left the apartment. THREE weeks later, dryer still not fixed. So I called the management office, they told me they would contact maintenance to look into it.
A couple hours later I get a phone call from managements office, she informed me, and I quote "maintenance just went over to the unit and fixed the dryer. They did not know the part had been delivered to the office from GE".
How does maintenance not know a part they order had been delivered? We were without a dryer for over 3 weeks because of the failure at management's office and maintenance.
When I communicated that to management, all the lady could say was "aren't you happy your dryer is fixed now?" Yes, I am happy it took 3 weeks to get my dryer fixed because of the your staff's inability to do their job.
Do not live here. Do not live in any Beztak-owner property. There are much better alternatives in the area that offer higher quality units, appliances, etc., all for the same price.
