Visiting family I ran into Kevin the Maitennace director, he was very friendly and happy to help me with my grandmas microwave!!!
Monark Grove is more than a senior living community,it is a place where residents are supported, valued, and empowered to thrive. The staff demonstrates professionalism, responsiveness, and heartfelt care every day. It is evident that resident dignity and quality of life are top priorities.
Overall, the rooms and most of the staff are typical for this type of place.
Where the ding comes is the food service.
Poor quality food even though Sharon boasted the menu when showing you around. The lack of staff issues in the food area boils over into the residents, and the resident are tired of it.
If they didn’t pay the staff a good salary they would leave.
This is the case with the kitchen, they are trying to boost profit and making us suffer.
The food, while on a menu, is poor quality, poorly made, not healthy and served with a short arm.
End of point, someday these people will be in the same situation as we are, and they will realize what they did and didn’t do for our well being.
What they won’t share with you is the quality of the food. They have no full time chef, did they ever? They serve food high in sugars, salts. The staff often fills in because they cannot hire people to stay on. For example, pizza was served a few weeks ago, and they gave 2 pieces, but very little pieces. When asked for 2nds we were told no. The admin staff does not want to seem to address this; which tends to make one feel budget savings is their bottom line. Soups… once in awhile it might be called a soup, other times, broth with some noodles. Steak and or hamburger is very fatty and gristle. Most people after 6 months won’t say anything as the admins act like we’re complaining or being unreasonable. They target the “complainers” and discount their words. A bit about administration; we are in our 70’s, 80’s, we are here because we need some measure of help. Discount chronic issues, but believe, the food for dinner is the most disheartening experience experienced. A major corporation purchased Monark, and they know quite well what they are doing to us.

This community is so beautiful inside and out. But the people who work there is what makes this place amazing and Sharon Punches is one of those people. If you’re looking for a place to call home in Clarkston then look no further. This is where you want to be and Sharon will make sure to take care of you from the moment you meet her!
