I had a very disappointing experience with the management at Montgomery Arms, specifically with the manager, Marcus McKinnie. I had been apartment hunting in Downtown Silver Spring for several months, and Montgomery Arms initially seemed promising due to affordability. Unfortunately, my experience with management was the opposite.
For THREE months, I made numerous (seven) attempts to get basic information about studio availability—by phone, email, and in-person visits. Marcus repeatedly took my contact information, assured me he would follow up, and then never did. The leasing office was often closed, phone calls went unanswered, and emails received no response despite submitting requested documents.
When I finally managed to speak with him, I was met with dismissive and unprofessional behavior. During one visit, he accused me of harassment simply for trying to follow up, spoke to me disrespectfully in front of staff, and refused to let me explain my situation. He dismissed my urgency and concerns entirely and stated that my emails would be deleted.
After months of effort, I still never received a clear update, timeline, or follow-up. Apartment hunting is stressful enough, but the lack of communication and professionalism from management made this experience unnecessarily frustrating and unacceptable. It was only until I sent an email to his supervisor, Mr. Tyron, that Marcus immediately emailed back asking when I was available. Unsurprised he responded to re-schedule to attend an "property emergency", a common excuse from his end. Apparently no studios were available, then refers me to a 1 BD available soon, but was not available. Marcus assured to send my contact information to another apartment complex, but they never contacted me. I have never experienced such a horrible time looking for a more affordable living space.
Beware if you apply here. Marcus is a liar and has favoritism among residents and strongly dismisses people such as myself for simply inquiring on information. Save yourself a headache and look somewhere else to live.
