Review:
I currently live at The Brook at Columbia, Apt 03 (5352 Brook Way) with another elderly tenant. I am an older adult, and for almost 30 days, we have been without proper heat, despite multiple maintenance requests and emails to management. The office has failed to respond in a timely manner, leaving the apartment uncomfortable and unsafe.
Management shows no respect or urgency for tenants’ well-being, even for those who pay rent on time. There is only one phone number to call the office, and it is impossible to know who the manager is or reach them directly.
Due to their repeated failures to maintain essential services, I am considering contacting tenant protection authorities.
If you are considering renting here, be aware that you may face delays in critical maintenance, poor communication, lack of respect from management, and difficulty reaching the responsible staff.

Review – The Brook Apartments
My experience at The Brook has been extremely negative. Things in the apartment simply stop working and they do not fix them. For almost a month, my mother-in-law has been dealing with a serious issue with the air conditioner — it doesn’t heat — and even with the very low temperatures, no one solves the problem. Several people have already gone to the apartment, but the issue remains exactly the same.
Because of this, she ended up developing a very strong cold, since the apartment stays cold all the time.
On top of that, the office staff is rude. They are unhelpful and have even hung up the phone on us.
I do not recommend this place at all. Avoid the headache.

⭐ EVEN THE POLICE SAY THIS COMPLEX KEEPS THEM BUSY⭐
I don’t live at The Brook at Columbia, but I was considering applying. Before making a decision, I decided to do some research. I drove through the property at night on several occasions, and what I witnessed was alarming: children running through the streets and parking lots with no supervision (I nearly struck a child with my car), adults getting into a physical fight, and frequent police activity in the community. It felt chaotic, unsafe, and completely unfit for families.
I also stopped at the 7-Eleven across the street and spoke with people in the area, then rode through and talked to several residents. Every single person warned me the same thing: do not move here. I even spoke with Howard County police officers who happened to be at the 7-Eleven, and one of them told me that this complex “keeps us busy,” which confirmed exactly what the residents were saying.
Tenants shared that utility bills are outrageous. One tenant told me they were paying around $650 extra every month in their townhouse just for gas, water, heating, and sewage. Another tenant explained that in the apartments, residents are charged even just to heat water, which made no sense. Everyone I spoke to said the costs were unbearable compared to the poor quality of housing.
Several tenants also spoke about the management team. They described the property manager and assistant manager as hostile, condescending, and completely dismissive of tenant concerns. Instead of being professional leaders, they act more like gatekeepers who demean residents rather than help them. One tenant even told me, “After I signed my lease, management’s demeanor completely changed for the worst.”
One very kind tenant even allowed me into their home, and what I saw was heartbreaking. The condition of their unit was unacceptable — something that should never be allowed in a community charging these kinds of prices.
Between what I personally witnessed and what tenants and even police officers shared with me, the conclusion is undeniable: this place is unsafe, exploitative, and run into the ground by people who simply don’t care. If you value safety, dignity, and your hard-earned money, avoid The Brook at Columbia at all costs.

Been here 7 months and for the past 2 months my kitchen water hasn’t been working. Everything in here has been breaking ever since I moved here, because they just put bandaids on the problem instead of getting to the root of it. Put in 4 different maintenance tickets and nobody still haven’t came to see why the water in the kitchen doesn’t work. But let you have a balance on your account management will call your phone 3-4 times back to back just to ask when are you going to pay it. Paying a water bill and can’t even use the water. This place needs a whole new management department.
