For anyone seeking a housing experience that requires extensive communication, significant time and effort to maintain basic living conditions, and the ability to coexist with roaches for two months, this apartment may be an ideal choice.
Personally, I am extremely disappointed with the management and overall living experience.
We first discovered roaches in our apartment in late December. Between late December and the end of January, we proactively contacted the front desk twice to request pest control. On both occasions, pest control called in advance, received our approval, and entered the unit properly. However, neither treatment was effective, and the roach problem persisted.
When the issue remained unresolved, I contacted the office for a third time to report that the infestation was ongoing. The office informed me that they needed to “discuss internally with the team.” However, later that same week, on Friday, pest control entered our apartment without any prior notice or our consent and performed treatment. This unauthorized entry raised serious privacy concerns and undermined our trust in management.
What followed was even more concerning. Instead of addressing the lack of notice, management sent us an email claiming the roach issue was due to our hygiene and instructed us to correct the situation, warning that failure to do so could result in a breach of lease. This accusation was inaccurate and inappropriate—especially since we later learned that other units in the building were experiencing similar pest problems….When we raised concerns about the unauthorized entry, management justified it by labeling the situation an “emergency,” which appeared more like a post-hoc justification than a legitimate explanation.
After this email exchange, we went to the office for an in-person discussion that lasted approximately two hours. Despite the time spent explaining our situation and concerns, we were repeatedly told that the only course of action was to continue pest control treatments. No concrete solutions were offered to improve habitability, nor were any alternatives meaningfully discussed. During this conversation, the manager also stated that our apartment insurance would cover hotel accommodations during pest control treatments. However, after verifying the policy ourselves, we found that this was not true, which further undermined our confidence in the information provided by management.
As the problem continued without effective resolution, I requested to discuss either a mutual agreement to terminate the lease or a unit transfer. Management stated that they were unable to make decisions regarding a mutual agreement and also refused to offer a unit change, leaving us with no practical options.
Unfortunately, this experience reflects a broader pattern in our interactions with the office. Our apartment was a sublease, and when we took over the unit, we repeatedly emailed the office requesting that our names be added to the lease. It took one to two months of repeated follow-ups before this was finally completed. Based on this history, it seems unlikely that this pest issue would have been addressed at all had it not escalated to such a serious level.
In addition, there have been ongoing maintenance issues that remain unresolved. There are visible cracks in the flooring, and the windows produce loud noise during strong winds, frequently waking me up at night. Although maintenance staff inspected the window and stated that it had been fixed, the noise issue persists.
Based on my own experience, living here requires me to invest an unreasonable amount of time and energy simply to maintain basic living standards. For most people seeking a stable and professionally managed living environment, this apartment is not a place I would recommend.
