Just moved in. Easy move in process, the leasing agent Jenna was extremely helpful and professional. Love the apartment very nice, so far have no complaints definitely recommend checking them out if you’re looking for an apartment!
Part 2 (Continued from my original review)
Things became even more concerning on August 15, when I had a guest over the age required to be left unsupervised per lease obligations (wearing a proper visitor wristband) using the pool while I briefly ran an errand. Before the office closed, Mrs. Lowder approached my guest, not by asking who they were visiting, but by immediately disclosing my apartment number without verifying their connection to me—a clear violation of privacy.
My guest, confused, explained they were visiting and showed their wristband. The manager then asked how they got through the gate, and incorrectly stated that only certain people are supposed to have the code. Finally, she asked my guest to confirm my profession, as if I lied about it—information that is already on file with documentation from my employer. Her sharing both my unit number and profession with someone she hadn’t verified was extremely reckless and endangered my safety.
When my guest asked if I would be informed about the conversation, she told them it was “not necessary.” Since then, my guest has expressed discomfort returning to the property, and I now feel uneasy, monitored, and unsafe in my own home—all within my first two weeks of tenancy.

Final Thoughts
While Kylee has been amazing to work with—always helpful, courteous, and responsive—the conduct of the property manager has created a stressful and unwelcoming environment. The lack of professionalism, privacy violations, inappropriate questioning, and failure to take accountability are simply unacceptable.
Until these behaviors are addressed and proper standards are enforced, I cannot recommend Beau Chêne Lake Charles to others. A beautiful exterior means nothing if the people managing it make you feel uncomfortable, disrespected, or unsafe in your own home.
It’s extremely disheartening that within just a week and a half of moving in, I’ve had to deal with billing discrepancies, denied payments without reason, invasive financial questioning, and serious breaches of personal privacy and security. These are not minor inconveniences—they reflect a clear pattern of poor management, lack of accountability, and disrespect toward residents.
While the property itself is beautiful, the aesthetics are not enough to compensate for the ongoing stress and discomfort caused by management. I expected better.
Part 1 (Main Review Post):
Disappointing Experience Within My First 2 Weeks at Beau Chêne – Beautiful Property, Poor Management
Beau Chêne in Lake Charles is undeniably a visually stunning property—the landscaping is well-maintained, the buildings are modern, and the amenities (on paper) are impressive. I was genuinely excited to move in and start this new chapter in what appeared to be a quiet, well-kept community.
I do want to acknowledge Kylee, one of the leasing agents, who has been nothing short of kind, professional, and helpful throughout this process. From the first apartment tour to every interaction since, she has shown great customer service, been respectful, and has tried to assist in any way she could. I sincerely appreciate her efforts and attitude.
That said, my experience overall as a tenant—within my first week and a half—has been filled with confusion, stress, and serious concerns, all stemming from the conduct of the on-site property manager, Mari Lowder.
Although I was told my move-in date would be August 7, I was charged rent beginning August 1, despite not receiving keys or access to the unit until the 7th. I had attempted to move in on the 1st, but Kylee herself called me politely to let me know no move-in appointments were available, and that I could move in on the 7th. I appreciated the clear communication from her.
Despite this, I was later told by the property manager that my move-in date was being recorded as August 5 and that I was responsible for rent prior to receiving my keys. This decision was made without proper explanation, documentation, or regard for the delay caused by the office’s own scheduling.
Shortly after, a rent payment issue arose—not because of actual insufficient funds (my bank account had the full amount), but due to a processing error. I acted quickly and responsibly by obtaining a money order from Rouses and delivering it the same day. Instead of resolving the matter, the Mrs. Lowder refused to accept the money order, claiming her “system was declining it,” and even suggested it might be fake—despite money orders not functioning like debit cards.
She told me to go to either Kroger or Market Basket to get a new one, even though the lease does not specify any required sources for money orders. When I attempted to clarify and resolve things, she repeatedly asked intrusive and inappropriate questions about my bank account balance and my next payday. She refused to provide any written explanation for the rejection of my payment.
