Lived here for over two years. Experience was generally okay. My ice maker didn’t work the entire duration of my stay because the maintenance guy claimed it wasn’t broken (the “ice full” lever would get stuck and needed to be replaced, which I explained. The maintenance guy would manually move the lever, it would make one batch of ice, and then he’d claim it wasn’t broken, but he failed to recognize that it would get stuck in that position and not make anymore ice after that. Oh well). Also, the landlord special carpet they used made the apartment noxious and nauseating for the first few months I lived there; the chemical odor was so horrible, they tried to use an ozone machine to make the apartment smell better, which didn’t really work.
During inspections (this place does routine inspections, btw), my apartment was always clean and tidy. Alane even commented “this is the nicest smelling apartment we’ve been in!”
When I moved out, they charged me $40 to replace the stovetop drip pans. Are you kidding me? Wasn’t worth going to small claims over, and that’s what they’re banking on. Be prepared to fight petty charges if you want your full deposit back.
Also, I had my own brand new dryer professionally installed in my unit, and it took forever to dry simply because Aspen Pines does not clean the building’s dryer ducts, which were full of lint and are a fire hazard.
My apartment also had tacky peel-and-stick lettering on some of the walls (certainly from a previous tenant) that they had just painted over instead of removing, so you could still see the tacky quote underneath the paint.
Also, what’s with the bathroom faucets? They’re so inappropriately small and ill-proportioned that it’s impossible to wash your hands without your hands being pressed into the bowl of the sink. I had to buy faucet adapters to be able to move the stream of water into a more appropriate position (IYKYK).
The pool and pool area is very nice, however.
