- JGJack G.5 days ago1.0Before you buy a Ryan Home, make sure to take a drive through the east end of the neighborhood (2022-2025 construction) and notice the number of houses whose cement fiberboard siding is failing. Some houses have missing pieces, many are uneven, not flush, and pulling away from the house, particularly on the south side of the houses. In response, many homeowners have face nailed the siding to keep it from rattling or falling off. These are all indications that over time the siding will fail. This type of failure takes longer than the year warranty you will get from Ryan. Reputable contractors offer 10 year warranties for this name brand product that has been on the market for decades and is rated for winds far above 100 mph. We do not typically get winds in excess of 100 mph. So why would the siding fail? Replacing the siding with proper installation methods costs tens of thousands of dollars. Living in a house with loose siding is very noisy and anxiety inducing.
