  The sanctuary is one of the best kept updated apartment complex around in the Gurnee/ Grayslake/ lake villa area. What is great about it is how close it is to the train station and Gurnee mills. Most shopping needs are within 10 minutes. The staff are very kind and friendly (both mid-week and weekend) and easy to work with. Repairs get done in a timely manner. Grounds are kept neat and tidy. Pets are welcomed (at a reasonable cost). Clubhouse is nice, gym is usable. Pool is great well kept. Only negative thing I have is - that you have to pay additional for a garage space and better appliances (which is normal, but annoying) overall a very nice place to rent.

  Spent four years at the Sanctuary, (my first time on my own) and I loved it. The perfect transition into eventual home ownership. I would strongly recommend getting a garage if they have one available! Maintenance was also quick and responsive. Never any problems with noise or neighbors. Loved my time there!

  As a working single mother of two school aged children, I am able to say that being a resident here at the Sanctuary has brought peace of mind to my busy work/life schedules. It is truly a sanctuary, as the management are always willing to help. The maintenance crew is on call and promptly responds to any and every work order that I have called in. The neighbors are friendly and peaceful. The Sanctuary is close to everything I need, from a variety of grocery stores to services and accessible commuter options for both work and leisure travel. I take pride living here, as the property owner is a highly respected and ethical person. I realize there are more housing options in the area, however the customer service quality, safety and security here at The Sanctuary does not compare to any other of the local housing options.

  HUD/IDHR/LCHA Notified due to serious problems living at The Sanctuary of Lake Villa: weeks without mailbox access, threats of towing despite compliance, and an unreasonable 9 PM guest parking curfew that led to our car being towed even when I called it in at 9:10 and they knew the vehicle was ours but pending a transfer of registration to get a tenant sticker. It also prevents visitors after 9pm because their cars will be towed due to the management and tow company collecting easy quick money and there shouldn’t be a curfew because emergencies happen in the middle of the night and anyone who wants to help or stay will get their car towed. I find this troubling for those who have disabilities or illnesses along with the fact it restricts any company coming over after 9pm because all cars need to be called in by that time or you get towed. My ESA documentation was rejected claiming they needed a medical license # so I provided them with that. I was informed 2-3 weeks later that it was rejected because it was a medical doctor license and not a mental health provider, mind you it was from my Psychiatrist!?! Due to prior unauthorized entry attempt with one being successful when I previously lived her and the way we are being treated, I installed a Ring camera inside my apartment for safety. This is common apparently and had hoped it was just a fluke when I lived here many years prior. These are only a few minor things we are currently dealing with while living here. I gave management more than a fair deadline to respond before reporting — when they failed to reply, I filed complaints with HUD and the Illinois Housing Authority. I had no other option due to harassment, intimidation and retaliatory like behavior. Avoid this place at all costs until things change here and the predatory antics are put to a stop because most don’t know their rights regarding the lease or what you’re signing. One is to waive rights to any class action lawsuits and the other is an addendum that allows management to evict without cause and no proof you were served notice to vacate and you might get 5 days, 10 days or the generous 30 days of notice to vacate. There’s very good reason why these are in your lease agreement to sign. These are far from normal to put in a lease. I’ve learned that the class action lawsuit waiver may not be completely enforceable, in case others are curious and want to dig further into that agreement.
