Warning: South-facing units are a sauna and management isn’t transparent.
We were specifically told we'd have independent temperature control, our #1 priority when signing, but management quietly shut off the building A/C for the season without notifying tenants. Even with outside temps in the 30s & 40s and windows open, our south-facing apartment reached 82°F during the day and stayed at 76°F overnight.
When we requested an early lease termination due to a medical condition that makes me sensitive to heat, management refused, falsely stating that allowing it would be discrimination against other tenants. They also refused any cost assistance to transfer units, despite the high cost and effort of having to move again.
Even with a portable A/C and windows open, the temperature never drops below 74°F and still climbs to 80°F daily. It’s made working from home impossible and sleeping uncomfortable.
If temperature control or transparency matter to you, think twice before signing here, particularly for south-facing units.

I have been at the Streeter now for 6 months and the residence is wonderful. The amenities are very nice, the staff is amazing, helpful, and attentive. Especially Isabelle!

My experience with The Streeter was very disappointing. My roommate and I submitted a basic application and paid the move-in/admin fees upfront — before they even requested our financial information or provided a lease to sign. We never completed the full screening process, and we didn’t have a cosigner, so we likely would have been denied. Due to a personal circumstance I had to withdraw from the process.
When I asked for a refund, they cited their policy: the $65 application fee is non-refundable (which makes sense), and the $250 admin/move-in fee is only refunded if an applicant is denied. However, since our application was incomplete and would likely have been denied, this situation technically qualifies under their policy for a refund. Despite this, they refused to return the $250.
These fees cover move-in services we never used and will be collected from the next renter anyway. Keeping our money under these circumstances felt unfair and inflexible.
I would caution anyone considering this complex to carefully review their policies, as they may not provide refunds even when your application is incomplete or you cannot move in.

I had an incredible experience with The Streeter. From the management, maintenance, amenities, to the quality of the building and location, it is my all-time favorite place I have lived in Chicago. This year, I experienced an unexpected tragedy that caused me to have to move back to my hometown. During this unimaginable time, The Streeter team was beyond patient and understanding, enabling me to direct my energy towards the more important things without having to worry about the financial impact of ending my lease early. When I move back to Chicago one day, I will definitely hope to move back into The Streeter. They run business like real humans, and I am personally extremely grateful. This place will always mean the world to me, being the first home I got the privilege to share with my fiancé.

I had a great experience living here for more than 2 years. Though on the more expensive side, the building amenities and maintenance were always top notch
