- RBrebecca brakeJan 27, 20261.0Things to know before buying a manufactured home. Not every insurance will insure it. Those that do insure will give a depreciated value in the event of a claim regardless of age. Age is based on build date not occupancy certificate date. Insurance will not pay the amount for contractor to do the work since manufactured homes are not contractor grade built. The newer homes are being built with apex tubing instead of pvc so if you live in a rule are and mice are a thing they can chew your pipes/tubing. They did mine flooding my home in 2021. Most recent learning curve we had an electrical fire in our 8 yr old house September 18th 2025. So the take away is you are going to get a assembly line quality. Instead of a forever home.

We have been very pleased and impressed with the process to this point. There have been minor bumps but Russ solves them quickly and effectively.They are quickly are on their way to 5 stars! Next step, build and delivery!

They will say they’ve been in contact with the city about your home being set on foundation and taking care of paperwork: that was our experience with Jake, and the city of Idaho falls said they sent papers to Jake about declaring our home as one on property since they set it on foundation and Jake from Clayton Homes never got back to them or told us, so now we get to pay our land and home separate because they never bothered to declare it as one. If he really didn’t wanna deal with the paperwork he could have told us to do it considering we had to do the majority of it anyway since he would claim the city didn’t wanna cooperate with him yet he never was in contact with the city about any paperwork like he would say. the city said they never got word of Jake turning in paperwork back of how clayton homes installed the home with foundation so thanks Clayton homes. We get to pay extra now. You guys are great
