- NENathan EdmondsMay 28, 20261.0I rented a property in Hillsborough via Haybrook for a year from April 2025 - 2026 and they pretty much disappointed at every single opportunity. To start, in the first month of the tenancy I was informed that they had accidently sent my Passport & Driving License details to another customer. Thankfully the person they had sent it to reached out to me directly (before they informed me...) and gave me the heads up. In the second month I reached out to ask about two things 1. Could we split the cost of getting a door installed in the living room as it'd be nice to split the rooms and keep the cold out and 2. Get a smart meter installed so we could turn the heating on in winter months for an hour ahead of waking up. The door got fitted 7 months later. It took 8 month to get a solid answer back. We never in the 12 month tenancy heard back about the smart meter after chasing maybe 10+ times. Painful. Then halfway through the tenancy they simply "forgot" to tell us about a inspection that was needed on the boiler. I have a large dog and as you can imagine, she was not thrilled to have a stranger knock on the door without notice which was a stressful experience entirely. To top it all off, I moved out over a month ago now and we heard nothing about our deposit being paid back. We have to chase them ourselves to get this returned which makes me question if we'd have ever received it without asking. Mental. Thankfully I no longer rent but when looking at houses to buy I actively avoided those listed by Haybrook at all costs. Terrible experience and I hope I was one of the rare few to experience this.
