  I moved here and signed 15-month lease, and everything was good, not going to lie. Right after my lease was up the complex was acquired by MJW investments, and I wasn’t 100% sure if I was going to sign another lease because I was pursuing the possibility of buying a house. I inquired about doing it month to month and was told it would be market rate + $500 to do month to month, of course I wasn’t going to agree to that. Therefore, I decided to sign another lease due to the home buying process not going as smoothly as I would like. Therefore, I signed another lease without reading the small print, which I can blame on my ability to pay attention to details. Fast forward to June, the dream of home ownership was about to become a reality. I then go to the leasing office to share my good news and also to inquire about the possibility of having to break my lease due to buying a home. I was then advised that buying a home is not a legitimate excuse for breaking my lease and there would be a $2400 charge if I decided to break the lease. I then emailed MJW investments asking if they would be willing to give me a break on part or all the lease termination fee, they immediately advised me that would be a hard, “NO”. I understand a contract is a contract therefore, I said cool, not going to let that rain on my parade. I then ask, can I make payment arraignment to pay the $2400 because I did not have that money to pay immediately. Again, I was told, “NO” they could not accept payment arraignments and if I did not pay, it would be sent over to collection to deal with and I would have to take it up with the collection agency. I still submitted my 60-day notice and by that time I closed on my home and moved out leaving the apartment just as I had found it. After moving out I was contacted by Guarantor that they paid $1200 of the $2400 lease termination fee and they wanted me to make arraignments on paying them back, which I did and paid them as agreed. After all of this, I received a phone call from the worst collection agency you ever want to run across. The collection agency advised me MJW investment had solicited their assistance in collecting my balance of $2400. I attempted to tell them my balance isn’t $2400 because I had just finished reimbursing Guarantor $1200 for what they had paid toward my balance. MJW investment (The Laurel ), collected $1200 from The Guarantor and still came after me for $2400 and nobody was willing to listen when trying to get them to update my balance to be $ 1200 and not $2400. I had to file a complaint with the Consumers Finance Agency for them to update what I owed. The purpose of this review is simply to save someone the headache, verify what happens if you decide to buy a home.

  My Experience at the laurel has truly been great from Ms. Brittany and Ms. Courtney have been a blessings. Maintenance is good but the Cleaning lady has a Horrible attitude unprofessional but Overall my experience IS GOOD AND THE APARTMENTS ARE LOVELY IN THE INSIDE AND THEY DO HELP AND UNDERSTAND YOUR NEEDS !!! Patience comes with everything ! I’m going to love it here.!!!

  I’ve had a great experience with Laurel. The staff is always friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. What really stands out is how well the management team works together — whether you’re speaking with someone at the corporate office or with staff on site, everyone is aligned and works seamlessly as one team. Their communication, responsiveness, and professionalism make the experience smooth and enjoyable. Highly recommend!

  Terrible management. They have changed their team about 3 times in the short space of time that I have been here and it’s not getting better . They don’t make any effort to make the community feel like a community. It’s not clean (always trash around ) also not safe (a lot of theft) . They always also seem to have a very stink attitude. Not worth the rent . The apartments are also not well maintained and the material used in building seems to be very poor quality (causing things to be destroyed very easily ). I have only been here for about 6 months and this has been my experience to date. Would not recommend. PS : the Richard that everyone who made 5 star reviews was talking about was fired after only about 3 weeks of working with the property. In his time there he truly did make a difference in making the space feel more welcoming . Shout out to Brittney (who is currently a staff there and tries her best as well)
