This rating is for the new maintenance man, Ryan. Our air went out right as the weather started heating up, so we put in a maintenance request and he came right over and fixed it with no problem. We even learned a few things in the process. He definitely knows what he’s doing, is very knowledgeable, and whenever we have an issue, he always assures us that he’ll get it fixed — which is greatly appreciated. On top of that, he’s also getting the pool ready! We’re so glad to finally have a great maintenance man who truly cares and gets the job done.

One thing people should know is that maintenance often asks residents to leave a review while they’re standing in your apartment. That’s probably why there are good reviews here. What they don’t tell you is that many times the problem is not actually fixed. They come once, ask you to leave a review right away, and then the issue continues or they never follow up again. So don’t be fooled by all the positive reviews. Many of them are written in the moment because residents are asked to post them, not because the problems were truly solved. Our experience living here has been extremely frustrating, and the maintenance response has been very disappointing.

I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed with our experience at The Barrett, and honestly I wish I didn’t have to write a review like this. There are things we like about the property itself — the building and amenities are nice — but the way management and maintenance treat residents has been incredibly disrespectful and stressful. We have been without air conditioning for about three weeks. The temperature inside our apartment has reached 85°F, and sometimes it feels even hotter, especially when we cook. At this point it’s honestly more comfortable to be outside than inside our own home. The most upsetting part is that we have a five-month-old baby, and she has been waking up soaking wet in sweat because of how hot the apartment gets. None of us are sleeping well. It’s extremely frustrating and concerning as parents to be put in this situation while paying full rent. We have called the office multiple times and submitted maintenance requests during these three weeks. Maintenance came once, said they would fix the issue, and then never came back. There has been no follow-up, no update, no temporary solution, and not even the courtesy of offering a portable air conditioner while we wait. We feel completely ignored. What makes this even worse is that this is not the first time we’ve dealt with serious maintenance issues here. Our dishwasher was broken for almost two years before it was finally repaired. - only 6 months before our lease ends. We pay our rent on time and fulfill our responsibilities as tenants, yet it feels like management has zero consideration for the residents who live here. Meanwhile, rent is still expected as if everything is perfectly fine while we’re living in an apartment that feels like an oven. At this point, the situation has been so stressful and disappointing that we will absolutely not be renewing our lease. I’m writing this review because residents deserve to know what the reality of dealing with maintenance here is like. The property itself might look nice, but if something goes wrong in your apartment, don’t expect urgency, communication, or real solutions. That has been our experience.

Overall Experience: -I was a long-term resident at The Barrett (managed by Fogelman Properties), and it’s disappointing how drastically the quality of living declined over time. Pool & Health Concerns: -The pool was closed for months due to reported unknown bacteria, with little transparency or urgency, raising serious health concerns. Maintenance Issues: -Maintenance was inconsistent, with frequent staff turnover and work orders marked completed without being properly fixed. Maintenance staff Ryan and Abel regularly asked residents to leave reviews immediately after service, even when issues were unresolved, leading to misleading positive reviews. Cleanliness, Pests & Upkeep: -Dog waste was widespread throughout the property, dumpster areas were consistently messy, and there were roaches in multiple buildings and around the pool area. Common Areas & Security: -The clubhouse often smelled like cigarettes, breezeways were rarely cleaned, and the gate was frequently broken, making security unreliable. Parking & Packages: -Parking was consistently limited, especially in the evenings, and packages were often left scattered or unsecured despite the Luxer system. Final Thoughts: -Despite charging premium rent, the living conditions did not justify the cost. As a former resident, I would never choose to live at The Barrett again and strongly advise prospective renters to stay far away.
