Stay Away — The “Pool” Is a Swamp, Not an Amenity
If you’re considering moving here because of the “beautiful pool” they advertise, turn around and run. What was once probably meant to be an inviting place to cool off has become a murky, green swamp straight out of a horror movie. The water is so cloudy and overrun with algae that you can’t even see the first step going in. Mosquitoes hover in thick clouds over the surface, frogs have made it their home —makes you question if the pool has been touched by a maintenance crew in months.
It’s not just an eyesore; it’s a health hazard. You’ll feel embarrassed bringing friends over when they see what management tries to pass off as an amenity. And the worst part? Complaints go unanswered. They’ll tell you “maintenance is scheduled soon,” but “soon” never comes.
If a clean, safe, and livable environment matters to you, do yourself a favor—look elsewhere. The photos in their ads are pure fiction. What you’ll find in person looks like something the bayou spat out.

I’ve had a great experience living here! The community is clean, quiet, and well-maintained. The staff and maintenance team are friendly and quick to respond whenever something comes up. Nicole in the office is always super helpful, friendly, and makes everything easy. The location is super convenient, and overall it’s been a really comfortable place to call home. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice apartment in the area.

I have been living at the Barrett since May. And since May I have been really nice and patient about the hvac system in my apartment. I have asked numerous of times to have this fixed and when one thing is supposed to be done it’s something else. I have tried to turn on the heat one morning when it was chilly inside and the whole damn unit shut off. That was also reported, guess what? It still has not been worked. The air was fixed (10/23/25) 5 months later. Its cold now and on (10/23/25) I was told that a part would be ordered and the heat would then be fixed. It is now Wednesday October 29th and there is no heat. I have been dealing with this since MAY 23. It is now November 1st and guess what? Wow! still no heat.I had to leave MY apartment key so that another key could be made, not sure as to what happened to the master key, then had to wait 40 minutes to get into my apartment after working two jobs because of a misunderstanding. THIS IS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, I’ve never dealt with this before at any other place of residence. And NO I WILL NOT BE RESIGNING THIS LEASE.

Pros: decent price/sq footage, great area cheapest gas on earth, liquor store/smoke shop in walking distance, quiet neighborhood, nice neighbors, maintenance responded quickly and were great
Cons: dusty breezeways they do not attend to the upkeep of the breezeways, they mow the lawns @8am and your car will have dirt and grass all over it, the parking isn’t the best (i work inconsistent hours so that may be the case) pool looks like a swap half of the time and if it doesn’t look like a swamp it definitely has twigs and dirt in it (i am kinda iffy about pools so i could be being dramatic) the access doors go out of service quite often, they rarely answer the phone (pretty common at apts), the mailroom has zero working cameras, they pick and choose when they want to care about certain violations.
