NXNW is a pretty solid place to live
Maintenance team is really great—fast, professional, and consistently helpful. The property itself is great.
But management is predatory and inflexible. On move-out, they slapped us with a pile of random, nickel-and-dime fines that felt like a money grab. Disputing them was a nightmare: hard to reach, full of hoops and unresponsive management. I eventually gave up and paid because they make it exhausting on purpose.
My move-out date was 8/1 — literally my graduation day. I had a final, family in town, and all the normal graduation chaos. I asked for just a few extra days and I explicitly said I’d pay whatever daily rate (which is an option at plenty of apartment complexes in Tallahassee). They said it’s not an option. No alternatives, no attempt to work with me — never experienced that at another complex. And if I didn’t move out by the morning of my graduation I will be hit with thousands in fines
Overall, good place to live as long as you never plan on moving out.

First, the good. The people working the front desk are incredibly kind and genuinely try their best to be helpful. They're also college students, so they get it. John (I'm not exactly sure of his role) is absolutely amazing. He takes time to individually consult you and your issues without making you feel rushed. I distinctly remember move-in day when I was in the elevator with him. He asked me if everything was going smoothly and he was very concerned and ready to help me with anything he could.
Now, the bad. When my roommates and I moved in, we were put in a different apartment style than the one on our lease. The style we wanted was carpeted and just slightly more expensive per month, but we did not get that. Our move-in email told us we would be in building 4 on the first floor. Instead, we were placed in what we though was an inferior apartment style in building 6 on the fourth floor. We signed our lease the September before moving in, almost an entire year out, and were placed in the wrong unit with no initial explanation. We called on multiple occasions, but then you get sent to their artificial "intelligence" answering machine Hunter. I hate Hunter. You ask to speak to a human and Hunter tells you "that's not necessary," You insist to speak to a human and then Hunter patches you through, the phone rings, and then you're hung up on. Don't trust Hunter, she's given wrong information about dates to us before. So even when you have a serious issue like that, it's nigh impossible to contact someone. You might not even get the apartment you paid for, with absolutely no warning until you're moving in!
Next, in our unit itself. I have 3 roommates. In 2 of their rooms, the breakers will flip if they even turned their computers on. For the first room, a maintenance guy replaced the breaker (didn't fix anything) and said he'd give my roommate a free power strip he had (never brought one). He ended up just buying an extension cord and runs it from the kitchen. For the other room, the maintenance guy has come twice, saying "it shouldn't be doing that" and leaves. That roommate is now resorting to buying an extension cord and running power from somewhere else.
Now, the ugly! One afternoon, there's a man, wearing a NxNW maintenance shirt, taking an angle grinder to my bike lock. I approach him and ask what's going on. He says that he was told to come and cut the locks off the bikes and throw away the ones that had just been abandoned there. They did not send an email, a text, no flyer. Not a SINGLE notification that some guy with a saw was going to come "steal" your bike. Which is funny considering that we got daily texts and phone calls from NxNW about renewing, but not one about our personal property being destroyed. The guy stops, apologizes, and I go up to the office after some time to get my bike lock replaced. Front office is very helpful, but then I have the misfortune of dealing with the management over email. They ask me for pictures of my damaged bike lock so they could replace it. The bike lock was originally purchased for $36.99, and I send them the EXACT link to buy the lock. But wait! It was on sale! It was only about $20 at the time, you're in luck NxNW. A couple days go by, and it's here. They got me....a far smaller, thinner, cheaper bike lock that did not fit around my bike. The incompetence is mind-bending.
Finally, just some highlights. Gate is frequently broken in an area with a large number of homeless people. The amenities appear to be nice, the gym has solid equipment, but the clubhouse and coffee bar are dirty and the gym is never restocked with wipes or hand sanitizer. All in all, NxNW is okay. Do I regret living here for a year? No. Is it way too expensive? Absolutely. Will I be renewing? Nah. There are far better apartments in Tallahassee for cheaper.
I don't do this for any incentive, like the people writing a review for a free mug. I do it for my incredible sense of justice. I have much more to say I couldn't fit in this review, so please ask.
