We moved out of The Boardwalk at Tradition several months ago after a long tenancy that involved many unresolved issues. While those problems were frustrating, the way our move-out was handled has been far more concerning. After vacating the apartment, my husband made repeated good-faith attempts to resolve outstanding matters amicably and professionally. This included reaching out directly to Thompson Thrift corporate leadership, who own the property, as well as onsite management. All parties had our forwarding address and contact information. None of those outreach attempts received a response. As of today, we have not received an itemized list of charges, nor have we received the return of our security deposit, despite moving out on October 30 and it now being January 6. Instead, without prior notice, explanation, or documentation, we were contacted by a collection agency hired by the property. Being sent to collections without first receiving an itemized statement or deposit accounting was alarming. While I am not an attorney, I cannot understand how skipping basic notice, documentation, and communication steps like this would even be considered appropriate — or lawful — in any professional property management process. Regardless of how management characterizes the underlying reasons for our move-out, basic transparency, communication, and proper billing procedures should not be optional. We made every effort to resolve this quietly and reasonably, and those efforts were ignored. Prospective residents should consider not only the living experience, but also how this property handles matters after you move out, especially when it comes to deposits, billing, and collections.

We stopped by at The Boardwalk at Tradition today. We did not have an appointment but Gina was very kind and gave us a very detailed and informative tour; she was very professional, loving, and caring. This is definitely a very nice place in the heart of Port Saint Lucie.

If you’re considering moving into The Boardwalk at Tradition, please read this first. My family and I lived here for nearly two years in two different units, and our experience was defined by constant frustration, unfulfilled promises, and management that simply doesn’t care once you’ve signed your lease. Management & Communication The management team is polite but ineffective. They’ll tell you what you want to hear — “We’ll take care of it,” “Maintenance will be there tomorrow,” — but nothing ever gets resolved. Weeks turn into months while issues pile up. For a so-called “luxury” property, the lack of follow-through is shocking. Severe Pest Problems Both apartments we lived in had major ant infestations. These weren’t a few stray insects — we’re talking swarms that invaded our baby’s crib and even bit her while she slept. They also infested a pet tank and killed two of my pets. Pest control brushed it off, saying “the ants were here first.” We switched units hoping for relief, but the same thing happened again. Despite a handful of service requests, the issue was never resolved. Flooding & Safety Issues Every time it rains heavily, the property floods. Residents have to wade or drive through 1–2 feet of standing water just to get home. It happens regularly, and management has done nothing to improve drainage or issue warnings. It’s unsafe, inconvenient, and completely unacceptable for this price range. Internet & “Convenience Package” Fees You’re forced to pay about $110 a month for their “convenience package,” which includes an unreliable internet service you can’t opt out of. The connection frequently drops for hours or even entire days. For anyone who works remotely, it’s a serious problem — and there’s no accountability or refund when it happens. Deposit & Billing Issues When we transferred to a larger unit, it took nearly three months to get our first security deposit back — even though Florida law requires it within 30 days. We had to pay a second deposit before the first was returned. The previous manager admitted this was wrong and even suggested we could have been owed triple damages under state law. The new manager ignored all of that history. Excessive Early Termination Fees After enduring all this, we’re moving out four months early — and management is demanding four months’ worth of payments: two months of rent plus repayment of two months of “free rent” concessions. It’s punitive and completely unfair considering the unsafe and unlivable conditions we endured. Final Thoughts The Boardwalk at Tradition looks beautiful on the surface, but it’s one of those places where everything falls apart after move-in. From constant pest infestations to flooding, unreliable internet, and dismissive management, this community has caused nothing but stress for our young family. If you value your time, peace of mind, and your children’s safety, look elsewhere. There are better-managed communities in Tradition that actually deliver on what they promise. This place could be great if they simply cared about fixing their core issues — but until then, proceed with caution.
