I am writing to formally express my ongoing concerns about the condition and management of this building. Unfortunately, it is not living up to the standards advertised or the rent being charged. The cleaning staff appears to only service the main lobby. I live on the first floor, and the stairwell directly in front of my apartment is consistently dirty. Trash is regularly left behind, including marijuana-related debris such as Backwood or roll-up stuffing. The hallway and stairwell are rarely, if ever, cleaned. Additionally, there is constant marijuana smoking in the parking garage and attached stairwell. As a result, every time I leave my apartment, I am exposed to the smell of marijuana. This is especially concerning for residents who work government or professional jobs, as it causes us to leave our homes smelling like marijuana through no fault of our own. Security enforcement is inconsistent. On days when security is present, the guard remains seated in the lobby and does not enforce the building’s no-smoking policies or remove individuals who are clearly smoking inside the building. At times the smokers appear to be residents, and other times they are random individuals who do not live here. At a rent of $3,200 per month, these conditions are unacceptable. This building is marketed as a luxury property, yet basic cleanliness, security presence, and rule enforcement are not being provided. The lack of action sends the message that management does not care, while residents are paying a premium to live here.

Where is the assistant manager? Her name is Hartage. She ran the place and was always tending to resident concerns. Now we have a manager (Moga) who stays in her office all day with the door closed. Also, we haven’t had coffee or cream for 3 months. This place is really going downhill!

The Vale is a beautiful and comfortable community with so much to offer. The staff is professional, friendly, and always goes the extra mile for residents. The lobby is spacious, clean, and very welcoming. The amenities are excellent: a swimming pool, fitness center, yoga room, package room with Amazon lockers, trash chutes on every floor, rooftop terrace, garage parking, 24-hour concierge service, security cameras, and even a loading dock. The apartments themselves are modern and comfortable, featuring granite countertops, tile backsplashes, and bright, well-lit interiors. The hallways, exterior, and garage are also well lit and well maintained. The Vale is also in a prime location. It’s handicap accessible and convenient to so many shops and services—Tropical Smoothie, CVS, Safeway, Whole Foods, Target, Starbucks, The Charmery  ice cream shop, restaurants, and gas stations. The Silver Spring Metro Station and multiple bus stops are close by, and Rock Creek Park is just around the corner. The DC International School next is less than 1/2 mile and various doctors’ offices nearby. Overall, The Vale is clean, safe, and comfortable—a wonderful place to call home!
