- DDDerek DashJan 23, 20264.0I've lived at the Sylvan for four months now and, overall, my experience has been great. Jeremy, the resident liaison, does a great job of communicating with folks about any work being done to the building, or service impacts, well in advance of them happening, and is quick and responsive to questions. Mike, the building maintenance manager, keeps the day to day operations moving seamlessly and is quick to respond if something breaks in your unit. The only reason I give 4-stars instead of 5-stars is because of the rent portal the management company forces you to use. The portal - Bilt - seems designed to make it as confusing as possible to pay rent: there are no clear deadlines for when payment is due, any credit on your account is listed on the same line as your monthly rent (making it difficult to tell how much credit you actually have), and there is no option to pay via check (you can pay with a credit card, for a fee, or direct deposit without the fee). Bilt also seems more focused on getting you to buy tickets to miscellaneous events around town (comedy shows, yoga classes, etc.) through their platform than it does on making paying your rent simple. Aside from that, this building has been great - quiet neighbors, clean common areas, and friendly staff - and I'd recommend it to anyone looking in the downtown area!
