I have been working with Brendon for the past one month regarding a three-bedroom, two-bath unit and was shown multiple units, including a first-floor unit that I expressed interest in. Approximately two weeks ago, I attempted to apply online, but the website was not working. The office was also closed during my visits, and despite calling repeatedly over the past two weeks, I did not receive any response. When I visited the office again, I was informed that the property was in the process of changing management companies and was asked to return. On Friday, December 19th, I returned to the office and was told to come on Saturday, December 20th. I was clearly informed that the rent for the unit was $3,300, and based on that information, I completed the application and spent several hours on-site on 12/20. After completing the application, I was then informed that the rent had increased to $4,200. This change after the application submission is unacceptable and misleading. I respectfully request that the originally quoted rent be honored.

Biggest waste of my time. I should have looked at reviews before, they are correct. I applied and got accepted, no one reached out to me for a week I called multiple times myself to see if I was approved or not. Was told over the phone my move in date would be the following week and I asked if they are sure because I need to start packing, they assured me all was well even though I received no email no calls nothing. Another few days goes by and I showed proof of income for the verifast application, still didn’t reach out to me for days, after last email told me I’m not approved without providing a reason even though proof of income matched application. Management was hell to communicate with and on top of that they didn’t know what they were talking about. One day I was told I’m approved and to pack my things next day called and cancelled my approval. A MESS! This might have worked out for the best in my case, can’t imagine the other empty promises I would have gotten after signing off!

⭐️ Disappointing and Unprofessional Experience I had a very frustrating experience with Motif Apartments. On Wednesday, I went to tour a 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom unit. The woman who helped me that day was very kind, professional, and extremely helpful. At first, the 3-bedroom wasn’t ready, but she later called me back to let me know one was available. I returned, toured it, and loved it. Unfortunately, I couldn’t apply because their website was down. On Friday, I returned to apply in person. The helpful woman was not there, and I was assisted by Brendon, who was rude and dismissive. He claimed the unit I toured was not available until January, which was not true, since I had already seen it. He then gave contradictory and unrealistic income requirements, changed the rules multiple times, and eventually told me I couldn’t apply because I don’t have paystubs—despite the fact that I’m a freelancer with verified income, tax documents, and good credit. They still took my application fee, only to later say I wasn’t allowed to apply. The constant excuses and shifting requirements made it feel like they simply did not want me to rent that apartment. This experience was unprofessional, misleading, and unacceptable. I do not recommend Motif Apartments

I’m hoping someone from corporate will respond to this review. I moved in this past September and have had ongoing issues ever since. These problems have ranged from incorrect rent quotes to missing items in my lease agreement—such as pet fees—to having to re-sign my lease three or four times due to these errors. I also experienced a serious issue when my husband’s EV was towed while parked in an EV spot, even though we pay $60 a month for a parking sticker. We were forced to pay $261 to retrieve the vehicle from the tow yard. We have repeatedly dealt with dishonesty from both our leasing agent, Devon and the assistant manager. They make verbal promises but fail to respond to emails—presumably to avoid having anything in writing. We were also misled about receiving a credit during our first month after we were incorrectly charged for renters insurance. We submitted our renters insurance policy before move-in and again on the day we took possession, only being told to add Motif to the policy, which we did and provided proof of. Still, no correction was made. Today I spoke with the assistant manager, Miwa for a second time, and instead of addressing my concerns, she escalated the situation, dismissed me, and denied making previous statements about refunds. Since raising concerns about the tow, I feel I am being retaliated against, as emails now go unanswered. I’ve had to physically come into the office days or even a week after sending messages just to get a response—only to be told something completely different from what was said before. I do want to highlight that Brendan went out of his way today to help me. He was professional, calm, and genuinely concerned. He escalated my issue to the GM and provided excellent service. Unfortunately, the GM, Alessia, remained in her office while the situation escalated in front of several customers and did nothing to assist. Buyer beware: they will attempt to charge you for things you do not owe and then deny it. If you choose to live here, I highly recommend working only with Brendan, as he is the only person I’ve encountered who communicates clearly and shows integrity. Miwa also initially told me the GM “does not speak to people,” which made no sense. When I asked to speak with corporate, she again deflected. After Brendan informed me that I could schedule a meeting with the GM, Miwa suddenly backtracked and claimed she only meant the GM couldn’t speak with me today, which is not what she said originally. We moved to Motif because it was $500–$600 less than our previous apartment, and we thought it would be a great place to live with nice amenities. Instead, we’ve had continuous issues during the month and a half we’ve been here—problems we never experienced at our previous community. Our former leasing office always communicated clearly, responded to emails, and corrected errors promptly and in writing. This office avoids doing anything in writing, so I strongly suggest requesting all communication and confirmations via email. At this point, I would prefer to terminate my lease early to avoid any further issues.
