This has been the worst rental application experience I have ever had in my life. If I could give zero stars, I would. I applied for an apartment at Chatham Village under their low-income program, and the entire process was a complete nightmare from start to finish.
They kept asking for countless documents, calling my employer multiple times, bothering him over and over again to fill out forms and sign papers. They even called and bothered my roommate with unnecessary questions. Every time I submitted something, they claimed something was “missing” even though the documents were already provided. It felt like they weren’t even checking what I sent.
Camila, the leasing agent, told me everything “looked good” and that my application was basically approved. She even told me to give my 30-day notice to move out of my current place — which I did, trusting her word. I packed my entire car with all my belongings, ready to move in, and at the very last minute they suddenly called me saying my application was NOT approved.
Because of their incompetence, I ended up without a place to live. My roommate had already rented my room to someone else because I was supposed to move out. I had to beg him to take me back, and now I’m stuck living in the living room surrounded by boxes. All because they misled me and completely mishandled my application.
This office caused me unnecessary stress, embarrassment, and a huge amount of inconvenience. Extremely unprofessional, unorganized, and inconsiderate. I would strongly recommend staying far away from this place.
I’ve lived here for almost a year and have dealt with ongoing infestations of fleas and cockroaches. The apartment itself is nice, but it’s hard to enjoy when you’re constantly worrying about getting bitten or seeing roaches. Orkin has treated my unit monthly, but the issue has never been resolved.
The trash bins outside are heavily infested, and it’s common to see dozens of roaches at night. Despite a no-pet policy, many residents have pets, and there are stray cats throughout the complex. One of the laundromats was even shut down recently due to a roach infestation.
At one point, my unit had hundreds of fleas, which required medical treatment for the bites. I maintain a very rigorous cleaning schedule and never leaving food out, or crumbs anywhere, I do not have clutter, and have no pets, therefore I should not be dealing with these type of issues for almost a year. It’s been a very unpleasant experience overall, and I hope management takes more serious, long-term action to address these issues like tenting the entire complex
