  Services and quality of food has plummeted, while prices keep rising. Since being sold to venture capitalists-very disappointing decline since my relative first moved in 5 years ago.

  I’ve had nothing but positive experiences with Merrill Gardens of Santa Maria. They take wonderful care of my mother! My family and I couldn’t be happier with the level of attentiveness, cleanliness, hospitality, and of course the food! Danny was a huge support in making this happen, and of course Debra! We love Merrill Gardens! It’s just like a hotel!

  My dad has been a resident of Merrill Gardens for the last four years. His rent has gone up every year at least 10% recently he was diagnosed with dementia. The nurse there Deborah Gonzales did not even assess him, but looked at the doctors paperwork only and raised his level of care with no signature and no approval. His care has gone up over $1000 a month in the last three months. I can no longer afford to keep my father there and have to find another place to put him. I’m very disappointed with this corporate attitude that Merrill Gardens has.

  Merrill Gardens Santa Maria is more than I had imagined or hoped to experience. Amazing, caring, professional staff who go out of their way to assure our physical and mental well being. Numerous activites, outings, the food is excellent and dining is open 7am to 7pm. The residents are friendly, inclusive, and welcoming. I have had 9 years of support and friends through difficult and good times. I hope for many more. This is my home and family. UPDATE 12/15/2025 I thought I had experienced all the great activities and events MERRILL GARDENS had to offer. DANNY DANBOM and the Merrill Gardens team created the BEST holiday celebration in my 11 1/2 years living here. What fun! Activities, games, raffles, Michael Easby, General Manager, host and bar tender, an incredible cruiseship quality buffet - WHITE CHRISTMAS 🎄 was an event to remember. Exceptional. This just keeps getting better. THANK YOU MERRILL GARDENS TEAM. You make my life a joyful ride.

  Eight Years of Being Spoiled!!! After 8 years living at Merrill Gardens Santa Maria, I am still amazed at the quality of life I’ve experienced. I often wondered during my life what it would be like to be pampered, comfortable, and carefree as far as cooking, cleaning, home, and yard maintenance, taxes, and to feel completely secure and safe. My last eight years have been exactly that. We moved in at a fairly young age (early 70’s). During my husband’s illness I had all the care and support I could imagine. In addition, I had a built-in support group in this community of wonderful residents and staff. I cannot imagine, nor do I want to, living anywhere else. I’m perfectly healthy and am now able to come and go as I please without concerns about my responsibilities. It’s such a wonderful feeling of comfort and freedom. During 2020 and 2021 Covid restrictions, the staff went out of their way to keep us occupied and comfortable. The grounds and facility are beautiful with nice outdoor areas to walk and relax. There are plenty of activities and events to occupy us or we can choose to continue our previous outside activities without all the other responsibilities of a homeowner, more quality time with family and friends, in addition to a whole new group of friends. There is nowhere else I would rather be than here.
