*The apartments are really nice and spacious and bright.
+the grounds and area is generally nice and quiet.
+It’s right on the edge of a nice neighborhood in Willow Glen, great place to take nice long walks.
+The pool is nice in the summertime, small but still kind of a nice hangout area.
- -The windows are old, original from the 1970s, really drafty.
- -In cold weather, condensation builds in the entire window frame and windowsills get moldy. So do the window blinds!
*Moldy windowsill pics are from the living room where we usually have the window cracked for ventilation.
- -There’s basically no insulation in the walls, so in cold weather, if you have anything fabric, like cushions or pillows or couches, right up against an outside wall, they get completely moldy and damp! We just had to throw away a bunch of pillows and cushions, simply because they were up against an outside wall.
- - In the summertime, again there is basically no insulation, so outside walls that get direct sunshine literally get hot ON THE INSIDE!
- - The units have one crappy little air conditioner in the wall that gets direct sunshine blasting on it. That’s for the whole unit! Meaning the AC is at one end of the apt in the living room, and all the way past the kitchen, down the hallway, past the bathroom to the bedrooms at the OTHER end of the apartment, there is no AC. As you can imagine, it’s simply delightful trying to sleep on hot summer nights.
-The washers and dryers. OMG they are terrible- and you have to go out of your apartment to do the laundry.
-They break down all the time.
-Nobody maintains them, so sharp black carbon deposits buildup on the interior exhaust of the dryers and tear up your clothes. Nothing is done when you report it to the management, they just say you have to report it directly to the washer and dryer company.
-we literally take down a metal spatula every so often and scrape the black carbon deposits off the exhaust before we put our clothes in the dryer so they don’t get torn again.
-Because the owners of these apartments lease these washers and dryers, and they rarely respond.
-one dryer has a gap somewhere inside that catches clothes and you end up with a massively stretched out item that is unwearable. Management doesn’t care about that either. No reimbursement for your ruined clothes.
-They don’t give refunds if a washer or dryer doesn’t work and you’ve paid for it. It’s a waste of your time to try to call them or go online to request it… Just so bad.
-The washers only run short fast loads, the water here is really hard and so to get laundry actually clean usually you need to do two loads, and keep the loads really light, especially anything that’s light or white.
+ The kitchens are totally old and dated. Super shitty electric stove. Super shitty refrigerator and dishwasher. All have had to be replaced every few years because they are such low quality.
+The one main benefit to living here is that rent is cheap!
+It is really close to all kinds of things anybody would need, stores and freeways, but not so close that you’re getting freeway noise and exhaust fumes.
