  Don’t rent from here if you value your privacy and peace. Not unless you rent the upstairs apartment, the walls and ceilings are thin! They don’t carpet the upstairs unit anymore except the bedrooms so you can hear EVERYTHING. The bedrooms that supposedly have carpet very likely have zero padding because they were too cheap to consider the tenants below because you can hear every step as if there was no carpet. Leasing office has the highest turn around I’ve ever seen with new staff every 3-6 months. They give you at least 6-8 notices per year or more that they have to come into your unit for something with less than 48 hour business day notice. Constant interruption of your peace, privacy and enjoyment. Be mindful of that specially if you have pets! Guaranteed a significant rent increase every year renewal, horrible parking situation and garage space, and inconsistent trash fees as they bill you for trash $35-$40 and the fee fluctuates monthly from $5-6 more or less. Monthly Admin fee of $5, smart lock monthly fee of $15, and you will also pay for your hefty water bill. If you’ve never had a water bill before in San Diego expect a substantial water bill for the first 8 months because the CITY not SOFI rips you off sending you an estimate bill for these months and won’t reimburse or credit you back for the overage they charged! They won’t even credit your future bills either so it’s money lost! I tried fighting this and they have the green light to do this scam to new clients. Otherwise the location is prime and central to many places in San Diego. Trash is a huge problem here due to their high turn around in tenants there is always bulky items in the trash area where you can’t get in to throw your trash. They upkeep the community areas and I have found it safe to live here so those would be the positives for this place. They also have very responsive and amazing hard working maintenance staff. Shout out to Martin and Abe for always being prompt to my concerns and maintenance request. Good luck finding your next place in beautiful San Diego.

  Shout out to the maintenance crew (Martin and Abel) They are always going out of their way to say hi to my family and I while we are out walking around the community. They are so kind and friendly. Any issues in our apartment are fixed in a timely manner. Big thanks to you guys!

  From our very first tour and meeting with Latoya, everything went great. She was very informative and inviting to the community. Documents, application and all necessary paperwork were handled well with Latoya to ensure we had a smooth move. We were very excited to move here and it’s only been a week but so far we love it. Minor issues that we have are being resolved in a promptly manner with maintenance (Abel). He’s done a great job so far. Can’t wait for what this new beginning at SOFI Canyon Hills brings for us.

  LaToya was extremely helpful and very detailed during our application process. She's been great support during move in answering any questions or concerns about the complex and work being done. Abel and Martin are always very diligent to get maintenance requests in the unit completely done and around the complex promptly. It's a huge apartment complex for 2 people to maintain, but they're always on top of issues to be fixed. Overall a good place to live in North SD. Close to major shopping centers and great places for outdoor activities. Highly recommend!
