  Really enjoyed my time here at La Jolla Canyon. The staff was very accommodating and I really appreciate Mary in the office and Al John in maintenance. What a great team! I will miss this home.

  Do not come live here, there is a guy that is not right in the mind, he has basically a homeless camp in his apartment ( you can smell it just walking by), does weed on the daily, sits near children playground, rolls on the grounds of the community, appears disoriented and unsafe to live nearby. Cops showed up on multiple occasions due to his actions and management have been made aware of him but didn’t do anything yet. Will update if any action takes place.

  Pros: Mary at the leasing office is great and always helpful. The property is beautiful and not too big or crowded. Neighbors were all nice. There is always parking available. If you have a pet, they always keep the pick-up bags stocked. The pool and hot tub are nice. The hot sauna is nice. Walking distance to UTC is great. Maintenance is very responsive and friendly. There’s a walking trail through a canyon behind the property (hence the name). Cons: The gym equipment is very limited. The hot tub was frequently under repair. We had a second-story unit with west-facing windows and it got HOT in there year round. Laundry was a bit pricy at $2.75 per wash and dry, so $5.50 for washing and drying one load. Our unit also didn’t have a dishwasher, which got old after a while. But I think they’re adding dishwashers to the renovated units? Not sure. Overall, the cons were not bad. We broke our second year-long lease when we found a better space for the price, and it took months of back and forth and being overcharged by Collections to finally get billed the correct amount for the lease-break. If you do break your lease, just walk in the office with your lease termination fee check on-hand so you don’t have to deal with all that. Don’t wait for the lease termination fee invoice, just pay it right away and document proof of payment. They didn’t tell us that, but in hindsight that’s what we should have done. That’s more on the Garden Communities Collections department than a problem with the property. Again, Mary at the leasing office was helpful through it all. But still docking a star because it was unnecessarily painful to resolve that.
