Doug was great. Solved the problem right away. Kept everything clean!
I really wanted to love living at Harborside Marina Bay, and to be fair, the on-site team is incredible. Vanessa, Jill, Noah, Doug, and David are all professional, responsive, and genuinely do their best to support residents. Maintenance and staff are easily the best part of this property.
Unfortunately, everything beyond that is deeply disappointing—and ultimately why I cannot recommend this building.
The ownership/management company fails to maintain the property in a timely or acceptable manner. One of the elevators has now been out of service for over six weeks with no clear timeline for repair. In a building with roughly 200 units, that is simply unacceptable. I’ve also heard from neighbors that this has happened before, lasting as long as two months. At this point, it feels less like a delay and more like a refusal to prioritize necessary repairs.
For the amount residents are paying—often $4,000 to $5,000 per month—you expect basic infrastructure to function. Elevators should not be down for weeks on end.
In addition, there are ongoing issues with the building’s plumbing. The pipes in the garage frequently leak, and there is a persistent unpleasant odor. While I understand this is an older property, that does not excuse the lack of proper upkeep. Instead of fully addressing these issues, it often feels like temporary fixes or cosmetic measures are used rather than real solutions.
The disconnect between the excellent on-site staff and the apparent lack of investment from ownership is frustrating. The staff clearly care, but they seem limited by a management company that does not prioritize maintaining the property to an appropriate standard.
Despite the nice views and great team on-site, there is nothing “luxury” about how this building is managed. Until ownership takes maintenance and repairs seriously, I would not recommend living here.

Car break ins, robberies of my personal belongings in the locked storage and management did nothing about it. Fake cameras set up for show. Countless air bnb units and short term rentals set up with random people staying there. Management did nothing after various complaints from faithful tenants living there for years. Harassment, false allegations and threats from management to avoid kicking out the short term rentals leasers. So many people have moved out due to one leaving due to a gun shot wound being robbed in the garage, others being robbed at gun point at their apartment door. Homeless around through the trash in the garage yet after 3.5 years instead of finding resolution things got worse. I had to leave to protect my safety and mental health. They seem so nice at the beginning but it’s all a show. So many of us have left and now so many units are empty because word of mouth got around to many people in the Marina that this is one of the unsafest complexes to live it in the area.

I’m giving this apartment 4 stars after recently moving in. There are strong positives, but a few issues are materially impacting the experience so far. I’m hopeful this review helps bring attention to areas that can be improved — especially the placement of the garbage bins, which I believe should be relocated closer to the main office where they won’t directly impact residents.
Noise / Street Exposure
This is the biggest concern and something that should be clearly disclosed to prospective tenants. The garbage trucks are extremely loud and appear to service the property very frequently. The noise lasts 20+ minutes and is genuinely disruptive — much louder than anything I’ve experienced in prior apartments. The metal bins are positioned directly outside my window, which amplifies the noise significantly. What is most surprising and seemingly out of place is that the garbage trucks return multiple times per day. The frequency of these garbage trucks is abnormal.
General street traffic noise is noticeable but manageable and expected for a street-facing unit. The garbage truck noise, however, is not.
If you’re sensitive to noise, this is something to seriously consider when choosing a unit.
The exterior doors and walls are also fairly thin. You can hear hallway activity and neighboring units. While this is somewhat typical for apartment living, it’s worth noting.
Maintenance & Communication
Doug on the Maintenance Team is the man! I really lik him and he's a super nice guy.
Location
Excellent location — no complaints here. About a 10-minute walk to the beach and an easy scooter ride to central Venice.
Management Staff
Staff are friendly and pleasant in person. Email communication has required consistent follow-up.
Gym / Amentities
The gym needs updating. Replace the machines with a full bench / squat rack + kettle bell set. The equipment is pretty cheap. The closing time is 10PM - it would be nicer if the gym and hottub/pool were accessible 24/7.
Overall
The property has good potential, especially in terms of location and natural light. That said, greater attention to noise mitigation, operational communication, and overall resident experience would meaningfully improve quality of living. The garbage truck placement and scheduling in particular should be addressed for the benefit of the community.
