  I've lived at Casa de Marina for 30 years. This is a "security" building. When I moved in, we also had 24-hour security guards. Since my apartment had just been burglarized, that sold me. Unfortunately we don't have security guards here anymore. In the past 6 months, I've been burglarized twice ~ my car and the one that parks next to mine were both broken into on the same night. Then my cart was taken from my upstairs balcony a few months later ... the *one time* I left it there overnight. I have a neighbor who I've never met who thrust her hand into my face when AAA came to assist me on Labor Day. No idea what that was about but Management literally swooped in by email out of nowhere the next day in my defense. In a 264-unit complex where Management is only able to be attentive to broader issues, I have to wonder where on earth that came from because I'd forgotten all about it. And there's another neighbor who lives directly across from me who lets her son scream at the top of his lungs almost daily for hours (on weekends all day long until late into the evening) playing videogames. He's 12 and his voice carries throughout the back of the building. My windows are closed, it's November and it's cold, but I've turned fans on for white noise and my tv volume is at 37. I still can hear him shrieking. It's been 3 years of *that*. So in theory, while I have a right to quiet enjoyment of my home, in actuality, that's been denied me for several years. All of that transpired in just the past 6 months. Not the most uplifting series of events. I'm disabled and unable to work for 10 years, so I stay for the rent. After 30 years of rent stabilization, it's very affordable. Plus, with very few exceptions, the neighbors are pretty great. And though our Maintenance Team is literally the absolute best I've experienced in decades of apartment living, time is no one's and nothing's friend. That includes apartments. My place has become kind of dumpy over the years. Apartment law being what it is, replacing the carpet and painting would be my financial responsibility. I stay because the price is right, we're rent stabilized and it's a roof over my head. I'll take it. And fortunately for *my* neighbors, I was raised right and was taught from the time I was very young, in boarding school, and at college, what being a good neighbor is.

  Requested a tour of the Mar Vista apartments 1 week prior to viewing. The day of arrival, upon my arrival to view unit, I was informed that there were actually no units available at this location for rent or viewing and that Jag (the woman I scheduled and confirmed with) was out sick. Mind you, I received an email from her 30minutes prior to my arrival, confirming my appointment and reminding me. I was provided another property nearby to view. Upon arriving to this location, it looked very nice. I arrived and was asked to wait (which turned into a 15min wait). Once I was finally greeted by tour agent, I was informed that this location was much more than the initial location I requested to view. I am highly disappointed as I took the morning off to view this property. It was a waste of time

  Luis is great! He always does an excellent job and figures out a way to fix things. The 5 star review is for Luis. I would like to take this opportunity to indicate my dissatisfaction with the Laundry facilities. By far the worse managed laundry room I have seen in my life and this is the case for many years (I've been here almost 10). So, any prospective renters beware as this issue will not be addressed and is getting worse.
