Stay away from Ashton Towers if you value your safety, health, and peace of mind.
Ashton Towers has structural safety hazards that should never exist in a residential building. In March of this year, a large ceiling panel in the kitchen area of my apartment suddenly and without any warning detached and fell down, crashing violently to the floor. The sound was so loud and shocking that it made my heart stop for a moment. When I went to check the kitchen, I found the huge panel had landed on the floor in an awkward position. The narrow kitchen barely had enough room to accommodate such a large panel. I felt a chill down my spine. If I had been standing there, the sheer size of the panel, combined with the force of gravity, would have caused serious injuries to my head and body.
What's worse, the panel was located directly above where I stand when cooking. If I had been cooking at that moment, the impact could have thrown me into the stove flames or splashed boiling liquid onto my body. This ceiling collapse caused me severe psychological trauma, because it revealed a structural flaw in the building. I had no way of knowing whether the same panel would fall again, or whether the other large panels might also fall. From that point until move-out, I was extremely anxious and on edge every time I stood in that kitchen, almost experiencing PTSD symptoms. When I brought this obvious safety hazard to the manager's attention, they refused to admit any fault whatsoever.
Regarding the termite infestation, from the day I moved in until the day I moved out, I was constantly troubled by termites. My room had a serious infestation. Termites would fall onto my cups, utensils, bed, and even my food, which was extremely disgusting and mentally distressing. I was also very worried about germs and possible illness. Less than a month after I moved in, Ashton Towers promised to contact a pest control company, but even after nearly a year when I was preparing to move out, no such company ever showed up. About a month after they promised to contact a pest control company but did nothing, I reported the termite issue again. This time, the apartment didn't even mention a pest control company--they just sent a few people who took some photos and said they would follow up with me. I never heard anything again before I moved out. Since the apartment management refused to address the issue, I was forced to spend my own money to buy anti-termite products, hoping they might ease the problem slightly. But of course, this did not solve it. As a result, I lived with termite infestation for the entire year. During later communication with the manager, he even blamed me, who had already reported the termite infestation multiple times, for not "reminding" them again, and used that to justify why they mistakenly believed the issue had been "resolved." They called the lack of pest control an "accident."
The after-hours emergency phone line of Ashton Towers is completely useless. One Saturday morning, my toilet broke due to serious aging--the internal parts of the tank exploded--causing a huge water rush and noise, and leaving the toilet completely unable to flush. I called the emergency line, but it was just a useless robot. Since the toilet was completely unusable, I was forced to find alternative places to stay and use the bathroom over the entire weekend, which cost me additional money. I also had to take time off from class on a weekday just so the maintenance workers could come fix the toilet.
There are far too many other problems to list due to space limitations. For example, almost everything in my apartment needed to be repaired at some point. When you open the shared laundry machine, you might see cockroaches crawling on your freshly washed clothes. The elevator frequently broke down, sometimes getting stuck between floors and taking a long time to reopen. During my time living there, the laundry machine or dryer even caught fire once. At night, the apartment is extremely noisy, and I often couldn't sleep at all.

This was the worst apartment experience I have had. When I say our experience here was horrible I mean I am now traumatized from living here.
1. Everything was going fine until we spotted baby cockroaches 2 months into living in this apartment. They were prompt in fumigating our apartment.
2. 1 month later we were still seeing cockroaches. They fumigated again.
3. By January we had seen cockroaches in our rooms, on our beds, pillows, and even in our fridge at one point even after 2 rounds of fumigation. We emailed them and they scheduled to fog our apartment a THIRD time.
4. This worked for some time but by April we were still seeing cockroaches every so often but it had definitely slowed down. We did not message them because at this point we were moving out soon and frankly too exhausted to have to go through another round of fumigation. (which seemed to be their only option)
Now I am writing this because although Ashton Towers took action to fog our apartment, that was their only method, and they caused us to continuously suffer with cockroaches for around the last 9 months we lived there. Living with cockroaches is one of the worst things to live with as they carry diseases, and it is actually considered an inhabitable situation which Ashton Towers failed to solve forcing us to live in these conditions. The whole time we lived here we were CONSTANTLY paranoid that we'd see a cockroach in our rooms, on our food, etc. This takes a huge toll on your mental health. Not to mention how our whole apartment was covered in 3 layers of insecticides and for each fogging we had to completely remove everything from our cabinets in our whole apartment and cover all our clothes, bedding, etc so it would not be covered in chemicals.
Lastly, one of the worst parts of this all is when we did get to move out, we had to deep clean EVERYTHING, throw out potential cockroach-infested products, and vacuum seal what we could to make sure we did not bring any of these cockroaches with us to our new apartment.
Overall, between my 2 roommates and I, we had spent THOUSANDS of dollars (if not more) from buying materials for the fogging, throwing out almost all our furniture and having to rebuy, and just buying materials (vacuum seal bags, isopropyl alcohol wipes, cleaning supplies, etc) to make sure we didn't bring cockroaches with us. When we asked Ashton Towers if they could forego our last month's rent to so we could at least break even from all the extra costs we had incurred, they refused. The point is I would NOT recommend living here unless you like cockroaches and added stress.
