I have very mixed feelings about my time at Aster. To be clear, the onsite staff is phenomenal. If I were rating based on them alone, this would be a 5-star review:
* The Leasing Team: Sophia (Assistant Manager) is an absolute sweetheart -- extremely kind and helpful. Trey is also super sweet and was a joy to work with.
* Security: Tony the security guard is absolutely phenomenal. He is incredibly warm, friendly, and truly makes the building feel like a community.
* Maintenance: Kudos to the new maintenance team! They are super friendly, warm, and have been a great addition to the building.
The downside? I simply don't trust the property management. Communication is a major issue. We had a change in management that wasn't disclosed until the last minute, meaning I never got to say goodbye to the original team that helped me for most of my stay. More alarmingly, when a tragic suicide attempt occurred next to the building, management misled residents by claiming it was a "robbery."
The renewal process was the final straw. I was very close to extending my lease, but the Property Manager constantly changed rates on me and insisted there was "nothing he could do" to negotiate. Magically, the moment I submitted my 30-day notice, he offered a significantly lower price. To add insult to injury, now that I've moved out, I see my exact unit listed for significantly less than what they were offering me to stay.
Between the lack of transparency, the constant loud construction, and the high price tag, it's hard to recommend this place despite the amazing staff. It's a beautiful community, but the corporate games make it feel like they don't value resident loyalty at all. I'd also be weary of the area in itself, I never felt safe walking around at night.

I struggle to write reviews about places, and generally leave them out due to the fact that I think complaining for any complaint sake is just irrelevant and unnecessary.
1. Community – For us, our community is deeply important to us. This is one of the most powerful parts of living in an apartment complex. The community here is awful. People are grossly inconsiderate, they play extremely loud music all night and day, they stomp all over the place all day and night, and people let their children run up and down the hallways all day and night and scream. As other reviews have said, don’t expect to sleep well unless you turn the ceiling fan on high, have your air conditioning running at full blast and use a noise machine. It’s important to note that we are not strangers to noise. We have lived in Philadelphia, New York, and Berlin, and never have I had this much trouble sleeping. If you want to smell pot 24/7, this is a great place for you.
2. Cleanliness – This place is filthy. As many other reviewers have said there are cockroaches in trash facilities, on the floors, and often in your own apartment. We have sprayed ourselves to prevent them from getting worse, but this goes back up to number one where people are disgusting here. In addition, there is almost always animal poop in elevators, and just yesterday, there were puddles of dog pee in the garage elevator that weren’t cleaned up. Again, point 1. Inexplicably, there are pieces of palm tree that end up all over the 6th floor halls. We’ve also had pot resin running down our bathroom walls and have had it tested and every management group has ignored it despite this being a nonsmoking facility.
3. Garage – We pay for parking in EV spaces that repeatedly have people parked in our spaces, parked on the ramp preventing us from getting into our spaces, attempting to use our chargers, etc. Luckily, you can’t use the charger without it being yours, but it’s obnoxious to have to confront people to get out of your space. In addition, the parking spaces assigned are so small, that when we have multiple people in the car trying to get out, we have to have them get out before we park. If you don’t back in, you have a recipe for being hit, and back to point 1, people drive like they’re Formula 1 racers through the garage. The garage doors are always broken. If it weren’t for knowing that Tony is vigilant at both doors, I’m almost positive our cars would’ve been broken into many times over. Again, back up to point 1, the people who live here suck.
4. Management – When we first moved in, we weren’t impressed. Chris seemed okay. I have no clue what the AM’s name was but she was horrific. We have only lived in Greystar properties since deciding to rent, and this one took the cake for being inadequate. Frankly, if it hadn’t been a Greystar managed property, we wouldn’t have moved here. Greystar, for all of their problems, is the devil I know.
Now to SRG. I had strong hopes when Martin came in that things would improve, and they did, for a month. Then they got worse. And now customer service really started to tank. To be frank, the only bright spot here right now is Sophia. She’s tried to put a lot of effort into assisting us with various needs. We wanted to stay here, despite the issues, to move into a larger apartment and subsequently pay more in rent. We looked at a few that we liked, went through tours, were talked through what seemed to be a transfer process, only to find out less than 7 hours later that someone had rented the apartment we had just looked at, after business hours, and then some how, we had to reapply, pay a new security deposit, and go through all of these insane steps to just move into another unit. We have elected to leave. This will be after 15 months.
The building is beautiful, but the community is inconsiderate and management leaves little to be desired. Ultimately, this boils down to ownership and their willingness to invest. I work in PE and if I were an investor, I’d look elsewhere, too.
