I want to share my current experience with Vivian C. the so called “community manager” of the Sonora Apartments here in Alta Loma CA, she is an incompetent manager, we got our car towed from the complex on the 1/29/26 like around 3:30pm, the reason was not concrete as to why, the tow guy did not have an answer either, he just said because manager approved it. I went to the office, to get an explanation as to why my car was towed but no one in the office could give me a concrete answer, one said because my car was poking out, then they said because I don’t have enough driveway to park there, then finally when I went with my partner they said because the fire line sign is there, which the fire line sign it’s sometimes in tenants “driveways” where they can supposedly park, so I don’t know why they don’t get towed? She then proceeded saying that she has sent notifications to tenants saying that we are not allowed to park outside our garages, that she “sent them last year”, which I replied well we are fairly new to these apartments and we did not received any notifications, then she reply “well I don’t have to notify you when towing a car”. Wow that felt like someone had slapped me and said I don’t care about you or your situation. Before moving, in our tour we specifically asked if we could park outside our garage because we saw that everyone did it, we were told preferably inside your garage but yes you can. Then now all of sudden we are told by them and by the corporate company, Kristen girl, that we are at fault because the No parking fire line sign is there, we have pictures of people still parking where those signs are and on red curves too, including golf carts (supposedly they are not allowed to park in red either, which they do all the time) and no one gets towed “immediately” like she has stated in an email Vivian sent yesterday to everyone except me. If they had been transparent since the beginning, we would have not park there at all.
Another concern about these apartments is the issue of smoke and weed smell, it has was there occasionally since the beginning we moved in back in September 2025 but since this year started it has become extremely excessive coming from our neighbors next door day and night, it has trigger headaches and a lot of coughing, we reported it by email 1/4/2025, called the office the next day, Vivian answered me, I told her my concerns with my chronic illness and the effects it was causing me, I remind her that I have school aged children living here, and that the upstairs neighbors have children too, her response was not caring at all, she just said she will send an email. Nothing has happened since then, It’s 2/2/2026 and we haven’t heard a follow up from her, she tends to ignore issues, the day I was at the office trying to get an answer about my towed car, she didn’t have an answer about the smoke issue either, she “needed more paperwork “. It’s really suspicious that my car got towed, feels like she is targeting us because we complained about the marijuana smell and smoke and her covering for those people and retaliating to approved to tow our car without notification. Today Kristen from corporate office answer our email with saying that they won’t refund the bill from towing our car because basically we are at fault, and we ask to break the lease without penalty because of the smoke weed issue and unbearable effects. Since these apartments are smoke-free apartments , it’s a breach of contract, it’s a hazard to health and violates the covenant of quiet enjoyment, but said no, if we want to move we have to pay fees, they both don’t want to help or don’t want the well being as tenants, you can read reviews it has happened before. If you are planing to move to these apartments do your research in advance and read reviews not only here but at BBB website too, and specially think four times before moving here, not because it’s not beautiful area, but because of the indifference, apathetic, nonchalance, unconcerned and uncaring managers.
