My name is Sarah Cover and from July 2023-January 2024 I lived at Callia. Never in my life have I been treated this way, NEVER. It all started with me touring the property, putting 300 dollars down, ready to sign my lease, and move in, only to be ghosted. When you call you get an answering service, no one answers that works in office. I had tried for two weeks to get a hold of someone and finally did. They acted as if it was normal to disappear for two weeks with your hard earned money. Like that wasnt a big red flag, like an idiot, I decided to move in because the pricing seemed fair and it was brand new and beautiful. When I was finally approved, I had to pick a unit online without viewing the actual unit and to my surprise, it was a handicap unit. I was informaed by management that it was exactly like the one I saw on when I took a tour, just bars in the bathroom near the toilet. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THE ONE I SAW. The washer and dryer was on the ground and a combo washer and dryer, which I dont know if you have ever used one, but THEY ARE TERRIBLE. It took almost three hours to wash one load, and then your clothes come out wrinkled. The counters were very low, there was no walk through closet from the bed to the bath like the previous unit, and the patio completely barred off, like no access to the patio. When I asked to be moved to the original unit that I saw in the tour, it took them 5 days to finally make that happen. They forced me to go through another background check and basically had to reapply. Once I was finally able to move, they charged me a full month in amenities and parking for staying in a unit for 5 days, a unit that I was told was basically what I saw on tour and wasn't. Not only that, but charged me rent for the five days I stayed in that unit on top of a full month for the second unit when I wasnt there for five days out of the month. Moving on to the absolute nightmare in management to the nightmare neighbors. When I went to the office to ask why I was being charged double rent I was yelled at by some red head girl who looked like she was twelve and when I got upset, she told me to leave and she wouldnt "allow me to speak to her like that" meaning the way she spoke to me and me asking why there were trying to screw me. I had three nightmare neighbors, one below me, one to my left, and one to my right. Late night sex so loud it woke me up, weed smell coming into my bedroom every night from two different units, screaming fighting from all three units, and one beneath me that I had to call the cops multiple times because it sounded like someone was being thrown into the wall at 3am. I emailed, NEVER CALLED OR WENT INTO THE OFFICE IN PERSON, multiple times a week explaining how many times I had to call the cops and that I basically wasnt sleeping and hadnt been for over a month. I slept in my closet because the noise was so bad, not to mention the noise from the street from cars. After two months of being ignored, I tried to break my lease and sent my ten days notice certified mail, IT WAS SENT BACK. They refused to accept it. I had proof of this, and when I presented it in court, the copies had magically disappeared and the judge "couldnt find them" KEEP IN MIND THE JUDGE PLAYS GOLF WITH THE LAWYER WHO WORKS FOR CALLIA. Please keep this in mind when you try to fight them because you will lose. After my ten day notice was rejected, I was then served with a cease and desist letter from their lawyer threatening me if I went public about this. I was to never post anything about this on social media, I was never to leave a bad review or they would sue me. I was given ten days to get out and get out of my lease on very specific rules, rules that I did not agree with, so I refused to sign it. I basically would have signed all rights away to speak out about this or ever fight them in court. I did not know what that meant for me in legal terms and couldnt afford a lawyer, so I didnt sign it. I refused to pay my rent the next month and wanted to break my lease and they refused. I knew I was no longer safe
