People that complain about being towed need to be told the truth. A property rarely ever 'calls to have someone towed." What they do is contract with a tow company. that company acts more like ICE or a bounty hunter. the driver will drive through and look for cars that he can tow. Like someone parked in a handicap spot illegally. Or people parked backwards, that sort of thing. All parking lots are that way. The tow guy gets paid by the tow. so complaining to the office is moot. All they can do is in turn, Complain to the very company that the corporation contracted with. But really, would they do that in one guy's behalf? No. because it really wasnt their own doing. It's the tow driver. so you could complain about the tow company, but those companies are buddy buddy with cops, are often armed, and will charge you whatever they want within the law which is max 125 dollars (which is of course what they will charge) 25 a day for storage. This number is low when matched with other states... In some states, sometimes your older car that got towed isnt worth the value of the fees that quickly rise for storage if you were towed on a friday and you had to work the weekend to keep your job. Closed on Sunday, and you have to tow fee and 3 days of towing. You could end up with $1000 before you can even get to your car .. many have to wait for a paycheck to pay, and thats where they end up pretty much stealing your car, in those states. Remember, The tow MAY OR MAY NOT be your fault. remember that, all who read this. But if they towed you improperly? Have fun getting a lawyer who will take a low pay case from a low income person where there is no money for them in damages where THEY can get paid too. A tow company knows this fact, so they really are able to run buckwild on low income people and where they have apartments. Rich apartments are not going to get raided like that by them, because they dont want the hassle.so an apartment company isn't going to say "hey, take it easy with driving around our lot and towing people" because that towing does them a service. "do apartment complexes get kickbacks for towing, hense they welcome the tow guy driving through hunting for someone to tow?" Depends. Its unethical, and illegal in some states. Not all. Arizona has no protection against it, likely because this is a GOP pro big corp state. So dont blame these guys for that. However, the parking fee itself? You might want to question and google if, they are supposed to be charging that at all, since they get tax breaks in that regard. They might not supposed to behaving that extra parking lot fee at all, but are doing it anyhow opposite of the government's rules. depending on the government tax break program that they are under (you can google the name) They may or may not supposed to charge for towing. Dominium has indeed been caught charging for towing when they were legally not supposed to. One state had a class -action and won. Unfortunately, "class action" is the only way, low income people can fight Goliath and win. Meaning you'd likely not see your money come back anyhow, as the lawyer would yank most of it. So welcome to america. Born here? get a passport. leave. If youre a senior? retire someone where else. If youre working age? Make money online, and leave. This housing mess is the jungle. and its not the apartment's fault. Gather your credit. Buy something.
