DO NOT move to The Retreat at Sherwood. This place should honestly be investigated.
There is a full-blown roach infestation throughout these apartments, and it is completely out of control. We’re not talking about seeing one here and there—people are dealing with roaches crawling inside refrigerators, cabinets, bedrooms, and even light fixtures. That is a serious health hazard, especially for families with small children.
What makes it worse is that management is fully aware and continues to do the bare minimum. “Pest control” is ineffective and does not solve the issue. Residents are left to either live in it or pay out of pocket to try to fix a problem that should never exist at this level.
Maintenance is just as unacceptable. Nothing is properly fixed—things are patched, ignored, or delayed for weeks. Broken appliances, leaking dishwashers, and even A/C units not working during extreme heat have been left unresolved. That goes beyond inconvenience—that’s unsafe and unlivable.
Units are not properly cleaned or prepared before move-in. Dirty carpets, unsanitary bathrooms, and clear evidence of prior infestations are being handed over to new tenants like it’s normal.
On top of all of this, there is a noticeable and consistent police and fire department presence within the complex. Emergency vehicles being called out frequently only adds to the concern about overall safety. There have also been ongoing concerns about vehicle break-ins and a lack of security, along with reports of dangerous and unsupervised behavior that further raises safety concerns.
Amenities are just as poorly maintained. The swimming pool is frequently closed due to cleanliness issues, making it unreliable and unusable for residents. The grill that is advertised as part of the property is also inoperable, which is just another example of amenities being advertised but not actually maintained.
Management will respond with apologies and tell you to “reach out,” but multiple residents already have—and nothing changes. It’s a repeated cycle of empty responses with no real action.
Charging people to live in these conditions while shifting responsibility onto tenants through the lease is unacceptable. This is not just poor management—it’s negligence.
Do yourself a favor and do not sign a lease here. No updated appliances or cosmetic upgrades are worth living in these conditions.
