I’ve been living here for a few years. And my experience has been good. The office staff and maintenance guys are very easy to communicate with. They try and resolve every issue as quickly as they can. And not as quickly as we like. Let’s be realistic they can’t fix our problems at the drop of a hat. But they have never failed to get it done.

To Whom It May Concern, I am reaching out to bring attention to a concerning incident that occurred on Saturday before Easter at Astoria Apartments in Alabama, which I believe warrants investigation and public awareness. On the day before Easter, I hosted family members visiting from out of town, including my son and my elderly parents. They were directed to park in what we believed to be designated guest parking within the apartment complex. I have documentation confirming these directions, including messages and location data. After only a few hours, both vehicles were towed without any warning, signage, or communication from the property management. There were no visible indicators that parking in that area would result in towing. When my family prepared to leave, their vehicles were gone, leaving them stranded without access to transportation, personal belongings, identification, or money. The situation escalated further due to the following: * My son’s vehicle, a manual transmission Porsche, may have sustained serious mechanical damage due to improper towing methods. * My elderly parents, who have limited mobility, were left without access to their belongings and means to return home. * Attempts to contact the apartment’s emergency line went unanswered, with no return call received. * The towing company requires appointments for vehicle retrieval, causing unnecessary delays and hardship. * I personally observed towing personnel scanning vehicles in the parking lot late at night prior to the incident, raising concerns about targeted or predatory enforcement practices. Additionally, a rental vehicle that was improperly parked was not towed, which raises questions about selective enforcement and potential profit-driven decision-making. This incident raises serious concerns about: * Lack of proper signage and transparency * Predatory towing practices targeting residents and guests * Possible financial incentives between property management and towing companies * Public safety risks, particularly for elderly or medically vulnerable individuals For example, if a visitor were present to transport someone to a critical medical appointment such as dialysis, discovering their vehicle missing without warning could create a dangerous, even life-threatening situation. I believe this situation reflects a broader issue that could be affecting many residents and visitors in the area. I am requesting that your newsroom consider investigating this matter to determine whether proper legal and ethical standards are being followed. I am prepared to provide supporting documentation, including proof of parking location, communication records, and details of the towing process. I am also available for an interview if needed. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response. Sincerely,
April Smith Thank you for responding. However, spaces were not clearly marked until after the situation occurred and I addressed it with the complex manager. My son was parked in the correct location and the towing company as per apartment manager stated would take care of damages and refund. I appreciate you updating the parking areas and time of parking so that now everyone can be on the same page after the incident and painting visitor parking on the location where my son was towed from the day after our meeting. Once damages are paid for, I will update my review, but for now it has not been resolved. Again my son was parked in the proper location and the apartment complex had failed to put proper signage up so the tow company was unaware and now resumes responsibility. On another note, instead of unnecessary parking nazi, it would be appreciated to focus on the cleanliness of our common areas that are beyond disgusting that have deteriorated beyond expectations.

My sister lives here. Me and my family are visiting before driving up to SC for a wedding I am a bridesmaid in. We were told per the front desk that we do NOT need a overnight parking sticker for our rental vehicle. We were told to park in the visitor parking OR outside the pool if the visitor parking spots were full. The front desk lady wrote down our license plate number and told us they would take call the towing company and let them know. THEY SURE AS HELL DID NOT because when we woke up early this morning to leave for the wedding, OUR RENTAL CAR IS GONE?! Nobody is answering their phones, nobody is open yet, we should have been on the road at this point. I dont know if this is the towing company's fault or the front desk of the apartment complex, but something got lost in translation and is unacceptable. Because of yalls lack of communication it comes at the expense of a guests experience. I dont even have the necessary information for the vehicle to get the car out of the towing company, because again, ITS A RENTAL. AND I guess the towing company doesn't do same day relases?? Ill be dammned if we have to pay or have to wait a day because we CANNOT as I have places to be and people to see. So dont even attempt to visit this apartment because its not worth the trouble of what we are having to deal with. Bunch of liars.
