First, let me say this I love TJ Towers. The leasing agents are wonderful, and the downtown location is really good. The only reason I’m giving a lower rating is because there are no amenities for residents.
It feels like the owner mainly focuses on the restaurant upstairs and the two other businesses that rent space here, rather than the residents who actually live in the building. There are no activities or community features for tenants, and many of us have talked about how we wish things were more resident-focused.
Now, to be fair, this is an old historical landmark that’s been converted into apartments, so there will naturally be some quirks especially with electronics, plumbing, and other systems. Personally, I haven’t had any major issues with heat or my power bill, and I understand that the elevator goes down occasionally because of the building’s age. That’s part of its charm for me; I actually like the historical features that make it unique.
However, I really wish the owner would invest some time into adding or improving resident amenities. For example, today my friend tried to use the downstairs dog-washing area, but it was locked — small things like that would make a big difference.
Overall, Thomas Jefferson Towers is still one of the most affordable and charming places to live downtown, especially if you’re single. I can’t speak for families or older couples, but for me, it’s been a comfortable and affordable home — it just needs some community care to match its potential.

This historic building has many touches of elegance and vintage architecture. We stayed in an Airbnb here on our wedding night and whenever we walked in, we were greeted by a guitarist who played us a sweet song to celebrate. You can tell this building is still in the process of being rejuvenated with the concrete floors still exposed and some of the hallways are poorly lit. It is still a really neat space, but it does lack the elegance that I might of expected in a historic high rise. Still the gold ceiling and port-hole windows give you a taste of a different time, and we really enjoyed our stay here for one night.

The staff is kind, but very inexperienced. Among the many disappointments and headaches of a recent family wedding, the STAFF CUT THE WEDDING CAKE AND SERVED IT TO GUESTS BEFORE THE BRIDE AND GROOM HAD THEIR CAKE CUTTING CEREMONY! It's a moment that they can never get back and is heartbreaking. Even if you aren't paying attention to the wedding, It's obvious if a cake has not been cut yet.
The venue also had water all over the floor from leaking windows, no maintenance personnel on staff and was unorganized. Security is non existent.
The staff, especially bartenders, at Roots and Revelry are incredible. The best part of the venue by far!!
The space is pretty and they have the potential to be a wonderful venue but need a lot of hand holding. Make sure you have your own wedding planner or day of coordinator to keep the event staff on track, and be prepared for wedding day disasters for either the bride or coordinator to handle.

tl;dr version: It's a beautiful old building that's been restored shoddily and run by morons. I could not recommend living here to anyone.
