Worst place to live your bathroom vent will smell weed all the time. The management can only offer you sorry it’s been almost 4 month we have to smell weed in our apartment
My experience with this property has been incredibly disappointing. Over the past year, the management of the property was consistently poor.
Common areas are frequently neglected, with trash buildup and dirty floors being the norm. The trash chute was often so backed up that residents were forced to leave garbage on the floor. Safety is also a major concern; following a shooting on the property in early March, communication was nearly non-existent. We were given a vague 'under investigation' notice and no further updates or safety assurances.
Finally, the renewal process felt exploitative. They attempted to increase my rent by 26%—from $965 to $1,220—citing 'increased property value.' As a renter, I see no benefit from their equity growth, making this hike feel like total extortion.
I strongly advise against leasing here. There are far superior living options in downtown Birmingham that offer better value and more professional management. Save yourself the stress and look elsewhere.

Worst apartment complex. They will randomly decide one day to make a parking spot VIP (there $50 a month parking pass to have a specific spot). It seems more spots become VIP every week. Then when you accidentally park in one they tow you and use the most expensive tow service (B an G) which cost us $500 to get our car out. I’ve been towed in Birmingham and it usually costs about $200 but foundry feels that they need to use people that charge criminal rates. Do not recommend living here to anyone.
I have lived in this apartment for two years, and I can say that the previous management team was much better than the current one.
This property has ongoing issues, including frequent noise problems between neighbors, train noise, leaks, parking issues, gate malfunctions, entrance door problems, and elevator breakdowns. Although we are often told these issues will be fixed, they are either not resolved or ignored without any response.
Recently, I received a renewal notice with a rent increase of about $300–$400/month. Because of this, I started looking at other apartment options and even reached the contract stage elsewhere. A few days later, I was contacted and told that the renewal notice I received was incorrect.
When I asked management for clarification, I was told that I had not even checked with their management team before looking for new apartment. When I brought up the ongoing issues in the apartment, the manager responded by saying that whether I renew or not is my responsibility, and then abruptly ended the call.

I toured a 1BR/1BA and 2BD/2BA with Malika M - she was wonderful; very knowledgeable and accommodating - she handled a resident's inquiry while also facilitating the tour with myself and another potential tenant. 6 stars for her.
This apartment was top 5 for me; fortunately I was able to find a place at a more sensible base price, specials, and all of the specs I wanted (balcony, pool, washer/dryer, upper floor, ceiling fans, etc.). The bathrooms are very, very nice - they exude luxury. The amenities are standard, with the exception of the gym - that was exceptional. The location isn't that much of a bonus (to me) despite how much I'm certain it contributes to the price.
Ultimately, the price, even though I could reasonably afford it, would've made me feel like an idiot every month. Again, Malika was awesome, the facilities were okay (the hallways gave The Shining and the apartments felt like dorms), and the location is likely phenomenal for some, but for me leasing here would've been consenting to be taken advantage of.
In my humble opinion, Foundry Yards epitomizes the greed-flation occurring in the rental market. Quoted prices, short-term leases, "Risk Fees" instead of legally protected security deposits, etc. <1200 sq ft should never be more than $1500 in Birmingham, AL.
