There were not many options to choose from when I was buying a litter box and litter for my kitten so I will have to go elsewhere for litter that is safe for her. The cashier, though, was super friendly and helpful!

This store should not be allowed to sell live animals, especially their fish. They are always sick as hell. I visit often for salt water supplies for my aquarium and notice they have diseased fish and their tanks crash often and it appears they lose all their fish frequently due to this. The amount of animals that die at the hands of this store is sickening. But they pretend it's okay because that is part of commercially selling animals. It is inhumane. Their staff is not properly educated on the animals they are supposed to be taking care of and promoting sales on. The coral frags are always bleached and literally dying. Their anemones will die in the tank and they don't remove them in time so their tank setup gets crashed and their fish die and they don't care. They throw out the dead fish resulting from this, restock with new, rinse and repeat without even batting an eye, and likely not correcting their water parameters either. This is inhumane. That's not even talking about the ungodly amount of ferrets and small animals they are selling out of there to homes that don't even have adequate housing or enclosures for these animals to live happy healthy lives. There are reputable breeders for all of the animals that are for sale at Petco, and for a much cheaper price. No Petco, but specifically the Wheeling one, should be selling these animals. And if they are, they should at the very least have staff who is educated on proper care and at least attempting to make sure these LIVE animals are going to adequate homes. I would love to see the percentage of animals sold from this store that die within a month of purchase, either due to illness or careless pet ownership. People who truly care about humane animal care do not work at Petco. You all should be ashamed thinking this is adequate and acceptable treatment of animals. And the staff sees way more horror than what the public can see while visiting. You all seriously support this? Step 1, educate yourselves on animal welfare. You all are responsible for countless unnecessary animal deaths, and show up to work every day to continue to show your support of that. Education can go a long way. Petco should not be selling live animals, period.
