When we first moved to the Morgantown area, all of our pets were going to Cheat Lake Animal Hospital (1 German Shepherd and 4 cats) at first they were great. Now, I won’t step foot in the place! About 4 months ago, my dog ended up getting a UTI, I called to set up an appointment but said my dog wasn’t in their system. She’s been there 3 times before that. I ended up finding medication online and now my dog has never been in better health! No thanks to Cheat Lake Animal Hospital!! Now I just heard another story where they released a Jack Russel after surgery back her owners while she was still bleeding from her surgery incision. They told the owners it was perfectly normal. The next day still bleeding, the owners called the hospital several times worried that the incision was still bleeding. Finally, one morning the dog was barely breathing. Tried rushing her back to the hospital but died before getting there. How do you people at Cheat Lake Animal Hospital even live with yourselves?! Totally unacceptable!!

Fine desk reception. Very disappointed with the vet and other assistants. Wait time was fine, but they took my dog back and gave a physical exam and then brought him to a room with me. When vet (Elli Antov) arrived she didn’t explicitly tell me what was wrong with my dog. I asked and she beat around the bush telling me he needs blood work and x rays and it will cost $800. When I questioned it due to price point, she offered their “credit service” and three people came in to make sure I applied to their credit service, which I did not ask for and was uninterested in. Once confirmed that my dog wasn’t severely ill, I decided to not do bloodwork and xray as $800 seems like quite a lot. When I refused, the vet was rude and short, using all the jargon she could muster up to try to scare me away from refusing the insanely expensive treatment. If you have bottomless wallets and would spend any amount without blinking, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I would seriously do research and think twice before accepting the crazy expensive services they offer. Highly disappointed as they were supposed to be one of the better hospitals.

We called Chest Lake Animal Hospital because my dog might have broken his leg and was in obvious pain. The staff member who answered told me to “watch it” and only bring him in if it got worse. About an hour later, when my dog still couldn’t stand and seemed in distress, I called back — and the person who answered was extremely rude. He said, “If it had been my dog, I’d have brought him in right away,” and then hung up on me.
This was an emergency situation, and the lack of empathy and professionalism was shocking. I expected guidance and compassion, not judgment or sarcasm during a crisis. I won’t be returning to this clinic and hope they address how their staff handles emergency calls.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude. Our German shepherd had lost her puppies and needed an emergency C-section.
The staff here were caring and compassionate from the start!
We were previously at PVSEC in Pittsburgh and we just simply couldn’t afford their pricing. They couldn’t tell us exactly what had happened.
I called CLAH from the waiting room at PVSEC and Lucas was so kind to help us get everything situated and ready before we made the trip down. They accommodated us and had made the time to see her.
Upon arrival Ally immediately met us in the lobby a took us right back to the exam room. They re-ran a few tests and took her back for surgery as soon as they were done explaining everything to us.
They were thorough, compassionate and did not speak to us like we were stupid.
Hands down I will forever come here if we are in need of emergency services. I honestly wish we lived closer to utilize them for their general practice.
